Crazy road up the hill. Twisty, tight, rock, gravel, no railing, rock walls, 270deg turns, no signs. Google maps didn't work, got us to ~1km, dead end. We walked. OK walk on day (no wild dogs, just chickens everywhere). March2025 weekday, nobody there, gate open, gratis entry. Deserted. Eventually another guy showed up (drove ALL the way, somehow). Rough stonework, arches, tiny stone rooms, holes. Definitely wear good shoes, sun protection (no benches, no chairs, no tables, no shade, no running water, no WCs). Not pretty but interesting. is great, on weather day. Not worth 200LEK entry however. Go to other hill for as-good-view, ruins, and gorgeous cafe (when open: this town is dead in March). The history is also definitely worth learning more about. The are a lot of fun to explore. Very quiet place on most days. Absolute must visit for anyone coming to Saranda! Make a visit for sure if you are with a car as it is just a short commute from the castle. Highly recommended! Cool overlooking Sarandë. It’s about a 40-50 minutes walk from the heart of Sarandë the walk isn’t that pretty. You pass by a lot of car washes gas stations and overall not pretty structures. The road turns into a dirt rocky road towards the top. There was a guy at the entrance asking for 100lek per person to enter. You can even go inside some of the ruins. The flashlight on your phone will work good enough to see what’s around. The views are the best part. Make sure to go on a day. Fantastic place! Fantastic view! During World War II, the witnessed devastating destruction and was reduced to shattered ruins: it was either destroyed by German artillery or Allied aircraft. Very boring. The is not that big and a part of the ‘ruins’ are modern stones with wire through them. Also had to pay 200 lek, we knew before coming there, but had to pay 800 lek because the man there had his own currency rates.. worth the hike for the to visit only if you are in the neighborhood or interested in the history of the place. Very beautiful views of Saranda and of the internal valleys . One explanation sign in the entrance but no sings of the internal elements. Near by are remains of bunkers ( maybe old for defense from aircrafts) There is very small entrance fee of Sarande from the top. 200 lek per person. It was a walk from city even it was a daytime. I expected a bit more from but the around was really nice. Definitely better than the neighbouring Lekursi Castle. Historically interesting, great from the top, and a hike! However, it is a treasure trove of history, especially the labyrinth below the monastery. The views a great too!! I have been there many times and it is a perfect place for people that love history and culture. A quite place even to relax.You can go there by car and the entrance costs only 200 lek (about 2$). An sich ganz schön. Die Auffahrt ist entweder sehr beschwerlich oder gar nicht möglich. Mit einem Eintritt von 200 Lek darf man aber nichts im Sinne einer Führung oder Informationen zu der Ruine erwarten. Immerhin wird dadurch das Gelände sauber gehalten. Ansonsten hat man einen schönen und weiten Blick auf Saranda und das Meer. Das ist aber von der Burg auf der anderen Seite kostenlos möglich. Worth the drive.
