The round is currently, un wraps being refurbished, how there is still plenty to see within the grounds It's goin on renovations since some time This is a review for Kells Round Tower, unfortunately about half the reviews on here are for the round restaurant which is nowhere near here. Quite frankly if you cannot tell the difference between an 11th century and a modern day restaurant you should not be allowed out without parental supervision. As well as the impressive there are several high crosses and an information board explaining the history of the site. Very nice historic place. Gorgeous old Medieval with charming cemetery and another from a later church. Amazing Medieval crosses. Lots of information tables explaining the history. Practical info: careful, entrance is from the side, not through the gate right by the round tower. That one stays closed. Bahahahahhaah omg!! The origin story is the greatest , the monks took the masons ladder away while he was on top because he charged too much 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😎 Tower itself is under restoration though, so check online before driving :) Wonderful.... too valuable to leave exposed to the elements. Needs to be protected for the nrxt thousand years.. Nice Round with history to burn. The itself is in good condition though unroofed. Sadly, it attracted few visitors on the cold November Sunday so I had the whole place to myself. The information panels present the usual sparse guesswork about the nature and construction of the tower, unfortunately, but the overall site and impressive high cross make it well worth the time spent. The graveyard is well worth a closer look. Undergoing renovations so wasn’t able to see anything. Glad it’s being unkept but was a bit of a bummer.
