Randomly stopped for an ice on our way. Nice place with a cosy terrace. Great choice of ice and lots of good looking cakes. The prices are as high as you were in the city centre of Budapest. A fantastic selection of ice creams are served here, along with hot and cold drinks and cakes. The ice creams are delicious with some incredible to try. My favourite was the Parmesan! On my most recent visit we had a take away of lots of different and my friends loved them all. The reason why I admire this place so much is because it brings life to this otherwise quiet small town. Though I am not a local, I am passionate about food of all sorts, and I witnessed this café's rise to fame from the early days, visiting every time I was around. The café started out small, but elegant. It was concise and compact and there was huge focus on small, high quality which was a big thing in the Hungarian café scene. The fridge displays were small but packed with a plethora of desserts, and I found the selection exciting and rivalling any big city cake shops. We'd always return with a huge selection of cakes, not afraid to spend a good deal of money. Since my last visit the shop has expanded and it became huge, with an endless section of gelatos. However, the cake options declined, and I realised that the swanky little were quickly replaced by convenient pies, and more traditional options that were no longer too eye catching or impressive. The little that made the place outstanding were no longer updated, and there was no experimentation with the shapes and anymore (not when I visited anyway.) Fridges stood almost empty, which was sad to see... I guess I picked the wrong day / time? The gelato stand was abundant and there were galore, but the prices were equally high, and instead of using a spatula, we were given small balls of ice cream. Again, nothing wrong with the price, but the portions should be adjusted. As of the flavours, they were all right. Definitely many fancy looking options, but the flavour was just "good" and not groundbreaking. The we ordered were no longer shining with freshness and the splendour of the old days either. Perhaps I should blame this on the warm summer weather... I really wish this shop did not expands it's room and focused on staying true to it's original ethos, but it is still a cool place and I take the blame for visiting a late hour on a summer day. I hope there will be new flavours, ideas popping up soon, and the quality will steadily grow so I can keep on returning here again and again. The design of the place is relaxed and provincial, with lots of options to sit down to enjoy your food at tables and benches. Large outside and inside space available. Ma próbáltam süteményt venni.
