Great place to know more about industry history in an outside natural and informative exposition with great Mars lookalike environment. It also worth to go for a hike around. Hatalmas sétát tettünk a Vértes hegységben található, csodálatos Marsbéli tájhoz hasonlatos Gánti bauxitbányában. A comprehensive exhibition about the history of the Hungarian aluminium industry and bauxite mining. A lot of bilingual tableau with a huge amount of information, spectacular exhibition of the tools and vehicles used in the mine. The open air study trail is also informative but what I liked the most was the beautiful formations caused by the open-cast mining. Enjoy my photos. We really enjoyed this place. Great day trip from the Budapest area. Its an old mine and the colors of the rocks and dirt are fantastic. Reds, yellows, black.... Great place for kids as you can climb up and down the rocks and dirt. Was 500ft per person (our toddler was free). Highly recommend a spare change of clothes for afterwards, especially for kids,if you are climbing and sliding you will be covered in red sand. No food allowed inside the mine area so keep that in mind if you have little ones that require snacks. We arrived near opening time (10a.m.) and by around noon-time it was getting crowded and mask use was unfortunately minimal. Very interesting place worth to go. Easy for parking next to the gate. Except the exploring site, there is a small museum introducing the background of the Bauxite and sorts of different samples of stone rock & sand. Children friendly. Only a mobile toilet close to the museum. Really cool place to hike and explore. A bit hectic with hikers, mountain bikers, and dirt bikes, but worth visiting for a day. Feels a bit like another planet. The bauxite mine itself is closed due to the pandemic restrictions but the outside area can be visited. The parking lot can accommodate plenty of cars. Kids love the Mars lookalike and the rocks come in a huge variety of colors. It gets quite busy but the area is so large that it allows for phisical distancing. There are also other areas to visit like the hill on the other side of the road or the surrounding forest. A really impressive sight to see if you're in the area. It really does look like Mars. It's not too big but you can definitely walk around and make pictures for an hour or more if you have kids. There is also a museum in an abandoned mine shaft. There is tons of information in Hungarian and English. You can also see old equipment and little trains and carts. Stunning place. Beautiful rocks, fun to climb. The museum is also great! Family friendly. An electric car charger would have been great. Cell signal on T or Voda (4iG) is abysmall. All in all pleasurable and informative Gyorsan bejárható múzeum, részletesen bemutatja a hazai bányászat történetét A beautiful place to walk. A former bauxite mine, the vast areas of red dirt now have pockets of greenery. Very beautiful and serene.
