The Clogherhead Headland Cliff is enjoyable but good mobility is needed due to having to navigate stiles, reasonably steep slopes in parts and rough ground underfoot. The path starts on the northern end of Clogherhead beach or at the other end in Port Oriel. Free parking and toilets are available at both locations. Along the route there are lovely views of the coast and sea plus two interesting ruins, one from World War One and the other from World War Two. Both are in ruins but if you are interested in history they are worthwhile visiting because you will appreciate their strategic positions. There is an abundance of birdlife to be seen too. We saw Stonechats, Oystercatchers, Redshanks and Sandwich Terns amongst others. Overall, I would recommend visiting here if you like coastal scenery and wildlife. Not a long walk, bit beautiful and peaceful. There is no entry fee. There is a and chip vendor and a fresh shop down at the docks on your way out. Amazing place to visit lovely scenery’ Breathtaking! No other words can describe it!👌 Nice walk, but I would question if it’s safe in the evening anymore due to lots of young males hanging around.! A stunning coastal with jaw-dropping views in every direction. The trail is short and easy to follow, but still gives you that “on top of the world” feeling. You can see the Mourne Mountains, Cooley Peninsula, and endless sea on a clear day. The path can get muddy after rain, so sturdy shoes are a good idea. Parking is right at the harbour, and afterwards you can grab great & chips in the village. Peaceful, unspoiled, and well worth the trip! An absolutely gorgeous cliff walk. There appears to be no "official" entrance or exit (in both cases, you have to climb over or through rickety, well worn fences), but once along the walk, there's worn down "paths", steps and an easy enough route to follow. You get absolutely incredible views of the coast line, and can see for miles in every direction. Just an incredibly beautiful view, and well worth a trek, even if you only go a few feet along the path. Really beautiful for a sunny day picnic or a walks, small kids supervision is must. Really scenic and green. Plenty of parking spaces, height restricted barricade at the entrance but cars goes okay under it. Love this place,and around.Summer time working ice cream shop,trailer with and chips,always can see 🦭. Lovely over the headland down to the beach. Nice coffee shop with good ice cream and fantastic and chips down by the port. Throw in some sunshine and you have a lovely day out. With great scenery too. 👌 Great easy around the headland. Make sure to get some and chips afterwards at the pier! Absolutely beautiful spot. Great for kids who love climbing rocks and looking in tide pools. If you're lucky you might spot a few seals in the water. Very nice quick hike. We started from the cliff carpark and end at the beach. Had a quick bite at the wee cafe there and went back up and watched the seals at the nearby port Lovely place, looks like if it would had been taken out of a movie. A nice site to rest or walk. An absolutely amazing place, stunning. The only down side is I thought it was a loop walk? No signs explaining where to start, how long the or what direction to go in so I found myself just randomly walking until I found a well-enough walked track to the next beach then turning back.
