There is a little kiosk there, and a lot of people. Towering at 220 meters, this dam is one of the highest in Europe and famously featured in the James Bond film GoldenEye—known for the iconic scene. Even without stopping long, the panoramic view of the valley and the turquoise Verzasca River flowing beneath was striking. The surrounding landscape is dramatic and awe-inspiring, making it worth pulling over for a quick photo or simply to admire the engineering marvel and natural beauty. 📝 Tip: If time permits, park nearby and walk along the dam. We went by bus to save any parking issues. Nice wee cafe up there and also the famous 007 jump. Great watching them dive off Visited by bus, as weren’t sure about parking. Luvly journey up to dam. Watched a few brave folk jumping. Famous location for 007 Golden Eye film. A wee shop for souvenirs, a cold beer or ice cream, as you wait for bus. Worth a visit :) :) Verzasca Dam is an incredibly beautiful dam with the height of 220m (721ft). It is famous not only for being one of the highest dams in Europe, but also because it was the setting for the opening scene of the James Bond movie GoldenEye starring Pierce Brosnan. It is famous also for the Jumping! A must-see spot for anyone who visits the area of Locarno. Don't miss also the ancient stone bridge of Lavertezzo (few km north from the dam). Highly recommended! Nice but not that beautiful. Worth the stop on the way to the valley The 007 movie Goldeneye 1995 was shooting there, Pierce Borsnan was brave for jumping 👏 Spectacular views. They have here if you are an adrenaline junkie and would like some thrill. Apparently the dam was a shooting place for various movies including one of the James Bond's film, Goldeneye. They have a shop and toilet nearby. Highly recommend. Amazing structure (1m lower than Hoover Dam) with views. Inspired by James Bond movies many people are doing jumps of the dam. There are beautiful winding rows leading to the dam and going further there is a picturesque bridge. The Verzasca dam can be reached by car or bus, and the jumping activity’s offered between April and October. Verzasca dam can be reached from Locarno town via an uphill road. I suggest upon arrival by the Verzasca valley parking card which would allow you to use any green sector parking place through your journey into Verzasca valley. The dam itself offers a magnificent view to the nearest Lago di Magiore lake and the surrounding mountains. This dam is also famous about the Goldeneye James Bond movie and you can find here a big bunge station as well. I definetly recommend to check it out! Incredible size and engineering marvel. Peaceful and views of the lake and reservoir. Not for those who don't like heights but you can walk across without seeing the edge. Wanna in? Go in the summer (and bring the money)... Or you can go during the winter like I did and you'll be all alone. An excellent panoramic spot. What a view! Makes your palms sweaty it's so high! Definitely worth a visit, the views are impressive. There's a if you're feeling rather brave, if not stand back and watch someone else! It's a structure and it's to be able to walk on top of it unrestricted. There is of course the possibility to do the 007 jumping from the top, but it's really expensive! Still, the views are and worth the trip. For anyone fascinated by these types of structures, it's an attractive attraction.
