Hard to believe this is in Switzerland, you feel like you transported to another world. It is WOW-beautiful ❤️ Hard to believe this is in Switzerland, you feel like you transported to another world. It is WOW-beautiful ❤️ Well worth the 8 Euros round trip up the cable car from Locarno below. The view by itself is great, but take the time to walk down to the because the from the side arcade are even better. Visit the chapel, and don't worry about climbing back up the stairs because you can go directly from the to the lower stop on the funicular. An amazing church. Lovely wee museum as well. A bit of a walk up and down but we used the rail. Worth it. We were visiting Locarno with friends and came here on a sunny summer day. Thankfully there weren’t many others so we were able to enjoy walking around. This is amazing for its location and design. The interior has been well preserved, maybe restored. There are some 3D depictions of biblical events that are curious. The museum was closed so I can’t comment on that. Beware that there are many steps down (and up!) from the stop. I definitely recommend spending time here. Cool spot. Interesting and very well preserved place above the roofs of Locarno with a spactacular view over the city and the lake. Pleasant to discover all its little stairways and hallways. Make sure to check out the itself with its beautifully painted ceiling. Also have a look at the upper stairs up to the main street above, if you want to score some great pics with the lake and the mountains in the background, or even the building itself as a nice background for a cool portrait of you bird. Take the up to here from the town below, trip takes about 5 minutes. On exiting the top station cross the road and walk down the path to get to the church. Be aware that it is quite a steep and long path down, it can get a bit tiring one the way back to the station especially when it's hot. A beautiful Catholic that dates back to the 15th century, and the site of a Marian apparition. You can access it by funicular, or there's some street parking near the station - otherwise it's a bit of an uphill walk from Locarno (I think ~20min). Nice of the lake, and very ornate decorations in the church, with a particularly nice oil painting from the 19th century of Jesus being carried from the cross. Beautiful church, magnificent views. Could be a bit crowded but definitely worth it Absolutely beautiful. A must seen on the way back from the We used the to reach the up the hill. Nice panoramic view of the lake from the top. Ideal for families. There are some steps to go to the Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso, so be careful with children's pushchairs. Free and beautiful. Totally worth a visit, if you are already there. Cannot complain at all! Note: If you want to see the museum, it is free, but check the opening hours! Great views. You can take the or walk the stairs from the lake. It was a lovely experience to visit the and museum. You take the venichular up and back and that was easy. The museum is free to enter and includes nice artworks and interesting items from the past that have been used in life. You are able to attend mass here too. The was full of art. This is a really nice activity to understand the history of this very special place. Went to a classic music concert which was unplanned and were surprised to visit, it was an exceptional experience and best of all free of charge The place offers wonderful and truly a special day Very nice complex worth visiting. You will enjoy the most amazing view, but try to aviod coming here on foot during summer as there are many, many, many stairs. There are some parking spots if you decide to drive there. This place is incredible, the best real experience is to come here on foot, climbing up and passing the impressive iron-cast bas-reliefs of the Way of the Cross, placed in small chapels. The details and characters are astonishing and the patina is picturesque. The atmosphere of the sanctuary is solemn yet calm. We visited at Christmas time, and there were very few visitors. A wonderful old place. It is possible to go up by or by car. I also liked the ancient temple. The Madonna del Sasso in Orselina is a truly beautiful and special place. The stunning panoramic from the sanctuary are simply breathtaking.
