I used to have the misconception about Gran Canaria being a tourist destination for retired people, but I realised that I was wrong. It is a great destination for hikers and beach goers, too. I explored all over the island, and my experience was indeed memorable, i really like this canarian Island. it has a lot of nice beaches. there is cultural stuff and very nice landscape. meet a car or take the bus if you want to see more and enjoy the sun. If you drive through the center of the the scenery is some of the most stunning anywhere in the world. Those who give it one star probably never left their hotel.!! It's a very rocky island, with so much to do. Obviously the heat needs to be mentioned. Over 25° every day. From the UK, it's a 4 hour flight. Hundreds of hotels and apartments to choose from. Taxis are a great way to get around. Lots of bus services all over the place. Some are free. People are very friendly and want to wait on you. Food is a mix of Spanish and English.
