This is an amazing little find. The is wonderfully maintained but without losing a natural look. The diversity of birds, insects and plants was impressive. The terrain follows the Anne River and is very flat so it is an easy place to stroll. Access is free and there were a lot of family groups there. Parking is good too. Amazing nature from Dunhill, passing Dunhill Castle to Annestown with a length of 5 kilometre. There are plenty of parking spaces at each end of the track and in the middle below the castle ruins. The hiking trails are well maintained and safe (cycling is not allowed) . You can discover many plants and observe animals. Last time we watched an Otter hunt. You should allow 2 hours for the whole way there and back. With Children a little more. A great activity for a Sunday afternoon. Don't forget the Picnic! Beautiful through lovely countryside past an old castle along a river & series of ponds to make them look like a larger flowing body. Huge diversity of flora & fauna evident & all well presented along with geographical points on well designed and informative interpretation boards all along the stroll down to the gorgeous cove & beach at Annestown. Beautiful wildlife Park, with a coffee doc and toilet. I highly recommend visiting Absolutely fantastic easy walk,family and kids friendly. Also easy access for disabled people. is very relaxed, mostly between or near the river. We spotted swans and grey heron, beautiful nature, animals, flowers and trees. Overall is little bit above 10km from start to the beach in Annestown and back. Dunhill Castle ruins in the middle of the walk. I was blessed with sunshine on the day of my but this would be stunning whatever the weather. So much to see you'll be invariably stopping again and again to admire the views and wildlife. And then the piece de resistance... the stunning strand (aka a beach if you're not Irish lol) at the end. Great little café at the entrance in a beautiful spot by one of the little lakes. A beautiful peaceful listening and seeing nature. No bicycles allowed which adds to the enjoyment of the walk. The seats dotted along the allows you to relax and enjoy the area. I enjoyed it very much and will there as much as I can. A very peaceful trail. Started off at Woodstown Bridge (midway between Dunhill and Annestown) and walked to Dunhill. This portion of the covers about 4.3 km in total. A little cafe is located at the end on the in Dunhill, but was shut when we walked it. Shuts at 4pm. Some of the is through a covering of tall trees and is nicely shaded on a sunny day. Remainder is more open and permits views of the marshes and waters. Views are restricted but there are viewing points along the edge of the waters that allow better visibility. Visited in late July and saw lots of nature: various kinds of Dragon flies, birds, flowers; they all looked spectacular. There are benches every so often where you can rest or take a drink and gaze on the beautiful landscape. Nice to see life preservers dotted along the edges of the water. However, a huge omission here is the utter lack of rubbish bins and poop bags. We always bring our own bags and lucky we did because there are none to be found. Neither will you find a bin in which you can deposit your doggie dirt. I find this state of affairs really baffling. I also saw a full bag discarded next to a bench whilst on my walk. ??? I also note there’s a sign posted on the cafe requesting people not to use their bins for poop disposal; fair enough I suppose. I guess we are expected to carry our dog’s dirt the entire way and then bring it home too. Minus one star for this major inconvenience that’s easily solved, especially considering the is advertised as dog-friendly/dog-welcome. On the plus side, at the Dunhill end at least there’s a public toilet. Overall, despite the negative, I would be back and would also recommend it. Lovely Place to go for a Beautiful eco park It’s just a wonderful experience. Very peaceful and tranquil. Never crowded.. just got to be at one with nature. Easy to walk, the surface is muddy after rain. Beautiful landscape and amazing view from the castle. Herons and Otters! Absolutely love this place! Just magical. The swans, the variety of birds, sticks, moorhens. Didn't see any deer this time but possible for others. Sadly, people are leaving bags of dog litter on the paths which really angers me. 😠 I'm a dog owner myself but I'll always carry the dog waste until I reach a bin, unfortunately many others don't. 😕 Hero, Hoshi and I love walking here, it's well maintained, full of natural beauty and wildlife, and is very peaceful - our only complaint is that there's nowhere to dispose of dog waste bags! Really nice walk. Saw baby swans and a young deer. Loads of butterflies and dragonflies. Little coffee shop and picnic tables at the start was really nice aswell. Great Park!
