We were with a tour and went to the old Jack Meades pub. We had an incredible time and Tom and George were fabulous. drinks, wonderful music, and a fabulous time overall! I highly recommend visiting! We were on a Cosmos tour with Bill as the host, and decided on this excursion as part of the must-see optional shows offered by the tour company. We paid online ahead of time to save having to buy the tickets in person. Upon arrival we learned a little bit of owners’ history and the building’s history. We then went upstairs to enjoy and the show. The were wonderful. We both had whisky with lemonade. They are crisp and refreshing drinks. We did not eat this evening, since they do not serve food in the upper room. Our host was an amazing guitar player and singer. He sang Danny Boy (which was Broadway caliber!) and has a fantastic voice. He also sang several other songs that were funny and engaging. Our bus driver Tony performed too and sang wonderfully. Note: Please do not record the show while there, it is not allowed but you may take photos. You absolutely must see this show! It was fantastic and hysterically funny. If you’re taking a tour with Cosmo, be sure to include this excursion, it is worth every cent. Awesome meal, steak was cooked just how I like it and asked for. Friendly and service. If I wasn't visiting from Australia I'd be going back for another feed Had lunch here and what a surprise ribs and colcannon on the menu all day very quick ordered the ribs and a pint of Guinness delicious totally lovely for the kids the do half portions of most foods brilliant find playground on site lovey walk around prices menu is very indeed pastas steaks ribs boiled or bbq burgers roast beef ect all on all day highly recommended food and and value and Wonderful place, playground for kiddos. Bright and cheerful. Some Lime Kiln ruins. The hubs steak came out way over cooked and they dont have Beamish unfortunately. I really love it here but my recent visit was a bit disappointed in the service. We asked for advertised on the blackboard on the counter And clearly see the items to make the behind the counter but we were refused. Food was fine and we had a night. We had meals! I had the fish and chips and my wife had the roasted chicken. Both were and portions. The atmosphere was a not like an authentic pub, but still a meal! 18 of us booked for an impromptu family gathering. It's a simple process then, you order your food at the till and pay for it and it is brought to your table. It's handy for large groups as couples or families can order and pay for your own food. We ordered ribs with cabbage and mash and roast chicken with mash and vegetables. Everything was very tasty and plentyful. The prices are very reasonable also €32 for the two meals, of course are extra. Was a miserable day but was lovely and warm inside. The was great, were very helpful and friendly. The food was gorgeous 😍 😋. Would recommend 👌. Definitely worth a visit, when passing through! Nice walking area, and delicious food served there, and always a cozy and warm atmosphere! We visited few times already, every time we are near! Had some nice fish and chips there, mashed potatoes with cabbage, and a very tasty seafood chowder, served with hot soda bread and butter! There is also a small castle on the road, just on the other side of the short tunnel, and other old buildings and ice house, just across the stream. A place for a party or any celebration. food, service, large car parking area, well equipped playground for kids and sheep, cattle, ducks & geese to be seen. I took a group of 15 people and phoned the restaurant to enquire about reservations. Spoke to a lovely lady and a long table was reserved for my group. Guinness, very friendly providing a warm welcome. We were on holiday in the area and called in every day for a pint. The pub provides food which we didn't purchase. The atmosphere is more a restaurant style, not an Irish pub, however the old cottage part is open Saturday and Sundays which looks cosy but we were there mid week. Highly recommend As a vegetarian was nothing short of infuriating. The so-called options were limited to a goat cheese salad (€14.50), a vegetarian lasagna (€14.50), and a portion of chips (€4); all of which were shockingly poor in both quality and value. The salad was a joke: a handful of sad with wilted leaves. No effort, no flavour and absolutely NOT worth €14.50. The lasagna? As an Italian, I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything so disrespectful to the dish. I had a portion of chips. For €4, I got a tiny pile of limp, soggy fries that weren’t even hot. No crispness, no seasoning, no excuse. In 2025, it’s unacceptable for a restaurant to treat vegetarians as an afterthought. This wasn’t just a lack of options, it was a lack of care. Lazy, joyless food, and an experience I won’t be repeating. venue. Unfortunately the visit was regarding a funeral but the and food were superb Had a terrific seafood pie here on 10 Oct. One of the best ever, and I know my seafood pies, even if I say so myself. There was loads of various types of fish in the creamy sauce topped with a nicely grilled layer of mash. Unlike a lot of other places pies, the ratio of fish to potato was heavily weighted in favour of the fish (Fish 3 - Potato 1. So, it can be done!) Also, my Mam had a lovely portion of boiled ribs with cabbage and mash, she even took some home in a doggy box. Definitely recommend this. There's always a atmosphere here and very tasty food. You don't need to wait to get a seat here. The are always kind. In the photo you can see a new dish on the menu. I liked it so much. Also my family likes to order ribbs and colcannon and all the sea food ranges. Also there is a mini zoo with horses, ships and fee more animals Part of our tour and had a time. Food and drink along with entertainment. Warm welcome on our arrival. We had 46 in our group, about 40 would be max. food especially the steak One of the best restaurants I've been too. Beautiful location, wheelchair friendly ♿️, fabulous variety of food, friendly staff. It's now the place I go for lunch in work as well as with Family. 10/10 We spend most Sunday evenings in Jack Meades for our dinner and a few drinks, and we choose Jack Meades for all our family special occasions. The owners and are like friends and always go the extra mile. Every menu item is absolutely delicious and my own favourite is the stir fry as you can see from my pictures. We had an experience at Jack Meades this week while on a break away in Waterford. My 3 year old son has multiple Non-IgE allergies and is extremely sensitive to trace amounts of certain foods so we find it impossible to find safe places to eat out. I called in advance and spoke to the chef and he said it would be no problem to arrange a safe meal for my son. The chef went above and beyond and changed out the oil in the fryer so my son could have exactly what he wanted. It was such a nice experience as it is so rare for us to be able to have a meal out together! I’m so grateful to the lovely chef here for facilitating this for us! My son was so delighted and it really made our holiday!! Our meals were all gorgeous and we’ll definitely be back soon!! find! Bigger than you'd think. More popular than you'd think. More delicious than you'd think. Better value than you'd think. So glad we found this idyllic gem with seating areas for all weathers. We caught the sun and sat outdoors. Could have opted for the glazed terrace with massive windows to regulate temperature. Skip the others and try this 🙂 Lovely place for a walk but the food and cleanliness ain’t it, dead flies all over the lamps and windows and they were falling into the food and all over the table, they need to do some serious work on that. Lasagne was soggy.
