A detour from Waterford city traffic took us to Passage East car ferry and I suggested if Strand Tavern is open I would treat himself...he had never eaten there before I had so was hoping he wouldn't be disappointed He wasn't and neither was I. The service and the food is second to none. Big portions of the tastiest fish dishes we have ever had. He had the best chowder he ever had and I had a starter of smoked salmon and the special "Lemon Sole". Never mind paying for quality and hats off to all...a wonderful evening spent in The Strand Tavern.💯👏 Had a fabulous meal here, luckily got a table as a "walk in" on a glorious Friday evening. Fish and Scampi and tons of chips. People on adjacent table had ribs and they looked superb as well. Duncannon was heaving, but the Strand staff were super efficient and friendly. This place is very very good, and pricewise brilliant value. Delicious food and drink! The margarita was outstanding and the seasoning on the king prawn scampi was fantastic. I was there early...right after they opened...and service was impeccable. The menu selection was good (also a large selection of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails) and I am looking forward to returning and trying different things. Very nice setting as well. Dinned-in during our visit to Duncannon beach. A great heart warming curry, delicious seafood linguine and grilled fish gave us a heart warming feeling after a chilling walk on the beach and a magnificent sunset. Locals also admire the place and highly recommend it by reviews and celebration parties hosted there. The beer selection was good and Guinness was fresh. The food here was incredible. The chicken strips, as well as the curry were amazing. The service was brilliant, and the place had a great vibe. We went there midweek and the place was packed. I definitely recommend eating at The Strand Tavern. The Guinness was poured perfectly too. Numeric review: 4/5 Summary: An extremely tasty and filling experience. Detailed review: Epitome of excellence - - Huge portion sizes and unmatched taste Pros - - Service - fast and friendly service from the staff from tap beer to food - Food - large portion sizes and a great taste to match. The seasoning and textures were beyond incredible for the soups, Thai green curry, and fish and chips - Drinks - a fine selection of drinks Areas for improvement - - Prices - each item can be priced a few euros lower to complete this fantastic experience! Nice pub food, wings, ribs and scampi were all tasty, big portion sizes. Most mains were in and around €20pp. Wouldn’t recommend walking in, I called ahead to ask about walk ins and was told 45min wait, arrived and was told the same, we were happy to wait. We ordered drinks and sat in the area. There were three groups ahead of us. We ended up 1hr and 45min, a couple before us ended up leaving. We finally asked about our table and the guy who seemed to be accommodating walk ins said “oh you’re still waiting?”. When we were at the bar another couple arrived after us and seemed to know the workers, they said they didn’t have a booking and still ended up being seated before others longer. We only waited so long as we were on a camping trip and had no option but to eat out and there is few restaurants in the area we were camping, we had already driven to this place. When we finally got a table and went to order we were told a long list of things they had run out of. I think someone should’ve informed us of this while we were waiting. There’s no clear management, organisation is bad. The person at the bar “managing” bookings and walk ins appeared to be doing a lot less work than anyone else there. The staff taking orders and serving food were very nice however. Probably wouldn’t go back, the food was good but it was just pub food. Superb simple fish and chips..such a fluffy texture to the fish and the batter.. light as a second skin nicest I have enjoyed in a while highly commendable Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
