From the moment we stepped foot into the bar, Melisa greeted us with genuine excitement and hospitality, making us feel like old friends rather than mere customers. His passion for his establishment was palpable, and it didn't take long for us to decide to stay for a and soak in the inviting atmosphere. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared, making it some of the best we had throughout our entire time in Ireland. It was clear that Melisa and his wife Martha poured their hearts into every aspect of their bar, ensuring that each customer feels welcomed and right at home. But perhaps the most memorable part of our visit was the impromptu sing-along at the end of our meal, complete with lollipops as a reward for completing our dishes. It was a hilarious and heartwarming moment that had us both in stitches, and while we're sad we couldn't capture it on camera, it's a memory we'll cherish forever. Had dinner on a Monday night. Irish meal. staff, made us feel very welcome. There's not many people in the pub at that time. Had their special, lamb chop with 2 types of potatoes and gravy. Kids ordered fish and chips, curry rice. Wife ordered stew. The chips, they are to die for. Soft on the inside, crispy outside. I asked the lady staff, she can only divulge that they use marris piper potatoes, didn't tell us how they make it so nice. Superb! Highly recommend. Stepped off train and gentleman drew us in with his Irish brogue extolling the excellent food. Went in and he was the father and son behind the bar. atmosphere, perfect decor and delicious food made for an excellent Irish pub stop. The women there was the single most welcoming, person imaginable. The portions are ample, the food is hearty and rich, and the is incomparable. Fish & and the boiled ham, cabbage and mashed potato was outstanding and cooked to order. Guinness was unreal. were welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended. The place is just wonderful. We went because they have Irish Stew in the menu. Right away we felt we as if we were family. The was family and the were amazing. Great hospitality. The Stew is the best I have had since being in country (sampled five others from Waterford to Sligo, to Cork and Londonderry) and I plan to visit again tomorrow! We arrived at noon and we were welcomed by the owner. He was so and made our so enjoyable. He chatted with us during our visit. His partner arrived later and she was every bit as friendly. The food was very delicious. There were 7 of us and many of us ordered the beef stew. It was soooo good. The burger was also very tasty. I highly visiting here in Waterford. It was definitely the highlight of our trip through Ireland. We just came back from a dinner at Grattan bar - happy about the nice and most of all amazing service we had there. We were planning to order 2x roast beef and 1xfish and chips, the very waitress was so kind recommending us to take one half portion because of the size of the dishes. She was super and chatty, food was amazing and we would definitely to go again. Ireally liked the mashed potatoes and beef, it was soft and the sauce had a great taste as well. In addition to that the more quiet of the place was beat for us after having a full-day of traveling and sightseeing. We are happy to end our first day of our Ireland trip with this authentic experience. You read these fantastic reviews about places and when you arrive there they don't for you stand up. Well in the case of this bar restaurant they most certainly do. I ate there for three nights and had three different dishes. Each one was excellent and you certainly won't be leaving the place hungry. Everything is freshly cooked. I had the roast beef on the 1st night which was excellent with a large helping of mash potatoes topped with tender beef slices. A good selection of vegetables and a couple of roast potatoes thrown in for good measure, the chicken curry on the 2nd night served with beautiful light Basmati rice. The curry sauce was and the chicken was and tender. I would have loved a few vegetables to have been included in the dish but the dish came only with chicken. It did come with a large piece of Bhakri bread. Also you could have this dish with half rice and half chips. Their are only to die for. On the last day I went for the Striploin steak with mushrooms and onions, a generous basket of their chips, and a medium size beautifully cooked steak. The pepper sauce was served in a separate jug. Martha and other members were and had a word for everyone. The place is spotless and if you have food allergies this definitely is the place for you as they will do their very best to cater for your needs. At the Grattan Bar we had a very nice surprise: the owners decided to serve a special Brazilian feijoada. The dish was offered in two options: • small portion for €14, still very generous; • large portion for €18, perfect for bigger appetites. I tried the small one and it was more than enough — tasty, filling, and made with good quality ingredients. The price was fair and honest, really worth it. The owners are very friendly, always smiling and welcoming. They had this great idea to bring a bit of Brazil to Waterford, and they also mentioned that they plan to prepare other Brazilian dishes in the future.💜 The only thing I would suggest is adding some Brazilian music, to make the even more authentic. Overall, it was a great that I truly recommend, especially for Brazilians living nearby who want to enjoy the taste of home. 🇧🇷 Looks a bit run down from the outside. Thank you! ☺️ Put off by the lack of in the hotel restaurants we stepped into this pub and were welcomed by the bar man. Once in you're so welcomed that theres no leaving. The landlady and landlord treat you as if you're one of the locals. Food was nice and a lot of it. We shared nachos and had a sticky toffee pudding each for dessert. Would 100% go back - why wouldn't you go back when it's so - and would it to everyone. Absolutely can not this establishment highly enough. The menu was fab and there was something for everyone. The specials had other mouthwatering dishes as well. My partner ordered the Irish stew and potato mash which she said was just "massive" and I got the Southern fried chicken fillet burger with homemade mayo, lettuce, onion ring and bacon with the best chunky I've EVER had (I highly them). The Guinness also was wonderful and gives the traditional pubs a run for their money! The owners were both people; especially the lady - whom I didn't get her name but couldn't of been any nicer or more helpful. We loved the Christmas trees too! They are used throughout the whole year and they change the decorations for each occasion,  ie: valentines, Easter, Halloween etc. I really can't say enough about this great spot right beside Tracy's Hotel. We were visiting Ireland from the USA and thought this was one of the best restaurants on the trip. Do not let the outside fool you. The bartender provided amazing service and was warm and welcoming.
