Visiting via the Wörthersee Rundwanderweg: If you're starting from one of the main towns like Velden or Klagenfurt, Maria Wörth will be approximately midway along your hike. If you're starting from Klagenfurt, Maria Wörth will be closer to the beginning of your hike, giving you an early opportunity to rest and explore. The trail to Maria Wörth is relatively easy, with well-maintained paths that are mostly flat or gently undulating. The section leading to the is particularly scenic, with the path often running close to the water’s edge. As you approach Maria Wörth, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the lake, with the prominently perched on its peninsula. After visiting the church, you can continue your hike along the Wörthersee Rundwanderweg. Depending on your direction, you can head towards Velden or Klagenfurt, or explore other points of interest around the lake, such as Pörtschach, the Pyramidenkogel observation tower, or one of the many beaches. Small little perched on a hill with some beautiful views of the in both directions (towards Villach and Klagenfurt). Not very crowded and super interesting to see the graveyard as it is nestled right up against the church. Beautiful view to the from the church, which is pearched on top of the hill The bell in the image is a historic bell located outside the famous Maria Wörth in Austria, which sits on a picturesque peninsula by Wörthersee. This particular bell was originally mounted in the tower but was replaced and set on display after it developed cracks and could no longer be rung safely. The bell represents both the religious and cultural legacy of Maria Wörth, a site renowned since at least the 9th century as a religious center and place of pilgrimage. i cannot explain exactly why, i have always been partial toward small chapels ...the underrated elegance that comes in smaller sizes, in inconspicuous location, often without any crowd, always holds special appeal to my senses. and this one is a fine example of it. the small peninsula (the town of maria wörth) it sits on is beautiful esp in the sunset. funny enough that we spotted the village and the while on top of the Pyramid observation tower - its black/white exterior and classic austrian style steeple stood out in the sea of blue and green. One of the preetiest churches and cemetery I've ever seen. Lovely little chapel tucked away on the side of the half island. The interior is amazingly detailed and goes back a century or two (can't quite recall the date). The chapel itself is enveloped by a beautiful cemetary with wild flowers growing everywhere and a gorgeous view of the lake. Beautiful place to go at the lake. Nice place to explore. You can enter the crypta, the frescos are really interesting and beautiful, also an amazing view on the lake. This is gonna sound weird, but the people buried around there are so lucky, to be able to rest there, as some of the graves have a stunning “view” of the 😅 Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
