Atalanti Nature Trail (Loop)

Excellent views (under good weather conditions) It's already 1800m above sea level, but total ascent is just 160m. I'll recommend to go there during September or October that's not hot and not too cold yet. We took a hike to the peak of Olympos as well. (+3.5km) There is actually Cyprus military base and nothing at all. Great walk similar to the Artemis but twice as long at 14k, however it does not feel that long. Relatively flat for about 3/4 of the route and the remaining 1/4 undulating until you make it back to Troodos Square. The is well marked so you can't get it wrong. Easy enough to complete in under 4 hours with very little elevation. Plenty of parking available and a few shops and restaurants for when you get back. Great views of all areas of the island. We did it in October at 15 degrees but the sun was still very strong so be prepared. This is a fantastic trail, about 14km with great plants and scenery. You'll need steady shoes as the can be very uneven in places. If you're not good with the heat its probably best to avoid July, August and September. Easy 13.5 km hike with beautiful vistas throughout. We completed the hike at the end of February so most of the was still covered in snow. The is well marked and passable without equipment despite snow. Free parking near the trailhead. If you're a hiker or a birder, this is a must do. The parking is plentiful if it is early in the day or off season but otherwise it is a touristy spot so it will get busy on weekends and high season. It's about 14km so if you're rushing it can be done in under 3 hours but if you stop to photograph the panoramic views and identify wildlife it will be closer to 5 hours. There is a lot of wildlife and flora to observe, including endangered mouflon, many unique bird species, including the newly endemic Coal Tit, and plants and trees that are found only at altitude in Cyprus. Along the way, there are information placards regarding the importance of this protected area. The footing can be rough, so I'd recommend sturdy footwear but overall the is well marked with relatively little altitude gain. Shade is not abundant in the middle of the day so early and late in the day will be most enjoyable and will increase your chances to observe wildlife. Bring food and water as the small tourist trap shops will not be open if you get there early in the morning. Please protect this place. Pick up after yourself and perhaps others as this is one of the most pristine and endangered places on the island. Don't be a disappointment to us all and hold each other accountable! A fantastic high-altitude hike that loops around Mount Olympus, offering breathtaking views throughout. The Mediterranean terrain, with its diverse pine trees and rocky paths, is a treat for nature lovers. Despite its mountain location, the is relatively flat with no noticeable elevation, making the 14 km distance very manageable. A perfect day out in the stunning Troodos mountains! We enjoyed this 13.5 km loop very much. It's an easy one without much elevation, but you should wear proper shoes as it's quite rocky. Took us 4 hours including a lunch break in the shade (over lunch time in summer, it's about 30% shade). It says it is 14 km., in fact it is 13.5km and it took around 3 hours to complete. The signs are just where they should be, so there is low risk of getting lost. The first 10 km of the route are rather flat so you don’t ascend or descend much, and generally the level is closer to easy than medium, but I think I can understand why it was rated as medium as the route becomes a bit volatile with ups and downs closer to the end. On the way you will see a 800 year old tree and many other nice things. The path itself is quite comfortable with only minor sections where you have to be cautious to watch your steps. Good luck.
