Mixed feelings after coming here by train just to check it out since I absolutely love Hungarian dishes... First of: the is one of the best I've ever eaten in Romania, hands down compliments to the chef 💪 But, the pork knuckle which on the menu appeared at 1100 grams was definitely NOT that size even if I include the sides and the plate it came on :)) It did taste very good though, rich flavor and tender. However the were ... some of the weirdest bunch I've ever met: my table (for one person) was waited by FIVE people in about 45 minutes! I asked to pay by card and ended up paying cash, I was checked by a waiter I've never interacted before who wanted to make sure I left the right amount even though I had tipped about 20%, I asked for a beer that never came 🤣 When I left some of the girls were out smoking while the people on the terrace were left unattended... Probably management treats them poorly, it's sad because that really is at a superior level Review for beginning of May, 2025. Establishmend is situated frontside of the national road, with visible signage and visible front (free) parking spaces. Although there is a parking on the right side of the restaurant, during weekends and around lunchtime the place is quite packed. There is also one car charging place, expect minimal power output, but better than nothing. There is no playground for kids, so beware you'll need to entertain them, or way for the chubby dog to come by and accept easily to be petted while craving for some leftovers. The traditional dishes are tasty, the very kind and attentive. Reasonable waiting time, you are being told upfront. Highly enjoyed local beverages: -beer (Csikishor), -mineral/sparkling water (Perla Harghitei 1liter bottle), - good lemonade made in house according to an old recipe : lemon & sugar left to sit over a long period of time that result in almost a Limoncello consistency (no alcohol). Lemonade is made with still water, and if you opt out, it is served with no ice. Food wise: very well rated. Soups are Hungarian influenced dishes, portions are quite large, except for soups/"ciorba" which are normal serving. Above average meat content in "ciorbă". Red onion salad for the beans soup si huge (a serving cam easily accommodate for 2 persons). Sound /ambiance was ok, allowed easily to discuss with person nearby. Waiter attentive, fast full of smiles. Payment was accepted by card also contactless or tap to pay or NFC payment. Tip may be included and also paid with the card. Definitely a place to comeback when in the area, or after biking in the nearby Reci area. If you found my review helpful, plear react to it ❤️🙏 It was one of the worse experiences i have ever had in a restaurant. Food was execrable. I ordered the steak from the attached picture, and i got a reheated piece of meat with a lot of very spicy topping, which was unbeatable. Potatoes were also filled with some spicy dust, looked like they have dropped the whole jar of spicy powder on them. I took 1 small bite, couldn't eat further, was close to throw up from the bad taste of the food. Also, I got a bean soup, which should have contained some smoked meat inside, well it was containing pig sking and fat, there was no meat in it. Elderberry drink has also a bad taste. The toilets were very dirty, there was piss all over the place, lookd like nobody has cleaned there. When had to pay and returned the plate with almost untouched food, waiter didn't even bother to ask what was wrong with the food since i have barely tasted it, looked like it was a normality there people to leave food uneaten. I wonder if i got someone else refused plate since it was reheated. And wasn't even a cheap experience, prices are quite higher than in larger cities center restaurants, which have way better food. Worse experience ever, will never return. Best in Covasna County. PERIOD. Food is 10/10, personnel is amazing, very friendly and helpful, immediately solving instant issues with a true smile. I highly recommend it! The food is great, but some of it might not be your taste. The tripe soup was not what i expected, but the Tochitura was extremely delicious. Absolutely outstanding. Cute traditional place, nice atmosphere, cosy and comfortable. Nice music, friendly staff. The food came quickly, was hot delicious and excellent portion size. Good prices. Will definitely be back and highly recommended. Beef and the with beans soup were so tasty. Fried cascaval cheese also good. 100% recommended Very tasty food, fair prices, close to the main road. We went on a Monday in August and it was pretty crowded, but could still find a table. I totally recommend it when in the area. The beer was cold, the lemonade refreshing. We ate the chicken and beef paprikas and it was delicious. We would have tried the desert, but we couldn't anymore. Enjoy! I am delighted to share my experience at Hanu Paprika, which proved to be an exceptional culinary destination. The food was truly remarkable, offering an authentic taste of local and Hungarian-inspired cuisine prepared with evident care and skill. The paprikás was superb. The mușchiul țigănesc was a standout. Dessert was no less spectacular. The vargabéles was exquisite, with delicate layers of pastry and a creamy, sweet filling that was neither too heavy nor too subtle, but exactly as it should be—an ideal conclusion to the meal. The location itself deserves equal praise. Set in a superb, spacious garden, it offers a serene and inviting atmosphere. The rustic wooden tables lend charm and authenticity, while the playground ensures that families with children can relax and enjoy their time without worry. This thoughtful design creates a warm and welcoming environment for all guests. Equally important, the were truly lovely, combining genuine friendliness with attentive, professional service. Altogether, Hanu Paprika delivers not just a meal, but a complete experience that celebrates regional flavors in a setting that is both beautiful and comfortable. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking excellent food in a memorable family-friendly location. Perfect stop for passers-by! Had the beef - just like my Hungarian grandmother used to make. Cozy vibe, nice decor, and friendly service. This is a great place to enjoy a traditional Romanian/Hungarian cuisine. Especially on a rainy summer day, the "papricas de pui" (chicken stew) is a must try. Thank you for a wonderful lunch! We'll be back. I absolutely loved it. I went with my family to get our last family dinner before one of us had to leave for work, and I loved it so much. The waiters and waitresses were so sweet. (Keep in mind that I'm a minor). A waitress came to serve us. She had black hair and pigtails over her shoulders. She was literally the sweetest person alive. She called me "doll", and oh my God I was sweating. She was so nice to us, I actually miss the restaurant. The atmosphere was great as well, it's Hungarian style outside and inside. The food? Do I even need to explain? It was so good, I'm totally full after just eating sarmale with mamaliga and sour cream. Everything there looks delicious. I highly recommend it! <3 Gulaș is very delicious, so is the home made bread. We liked the home made pickles and Socata drink. The service is excellent! Awsome food! Excellent service! Affordable prices! Cool and rustic and bar with exceptional service and the food is the best I have had in Romania. I recommend the pork ribs and gulas. Give it a try and I bet you’ll be back!!! On the way to Brasov the police recommended us to eat here))) Really excellent food, extremly friendly ( Kinga), clean, parking, and full of people. It's a known for its goulash, and when we sat down, they told us immediately that they were out of it, which meant that the food is fresh made from that morning. The is really friendly and welcoming and the food is served pretty fast. Nice options for dessert and lots of drinks to choose from.
