Our favourite gift in Kirkwall we visited at least 3 times in our 5 day stay on the islands buying some artwork , fridge magnets , tshirts , cosy woolen hats ,Kirkwall gin, jam and chutneys and had the obligatory photo taken with the Twatt roadsign with knitted items, puffin themed gifts, snacks, and a in the back. Thank goodness the food was better than the serving ladies attitude. Would have returned but don't enjoy being treated that way. Crafts and souvenirs nice. Went to see Judith's knitwear and it was beautiful. Lovely cup of and tiffin . Place was very busy as cruise was in . Food looked but one bad star goes to women in pictures in yellow who handled food walked through toilets area and back without washing her hands then proceeded to put fish on a salad. Not very good. Free WiFi was good also Great little here too, called Real Food Cafe. The has some interesting art work and souvenirs as well. The does homebaking, the scones were excellent. I had a fruit one with jam and butter the a little hot but not bitter. My partner had a gluten free bun. My partner had a gluten free crab as a takeaway which she said was delicious Firstly couldn't find a clean table so cleared our own. I found everything sticky/dirty on table etc When the girl brought the milk to table she basically threw it all over the table luckily missed me and my dog/handbag as it dripped off the edge. The cup was dirty I asked for replacement it was replaced with a dirty one. We were it's just staining from the coffee! I'm not an idiot and I know what it was and it should be clean.I came away quite disappointed show sellings lots of knitwear and souvenirs etc. but a little slow service. Fabulous place for a bite to eat and loads of great gifts too. Delicious home made food Great food ! shop. So happy to have found the in back! We definitely did not want Starbucks, which was the only other option we could find in Kirkwall. The coffees were delicious and so was the scone with strawberry jam. Great music and free WiFi too! Lovely with some unusual pieces. Very helpful assistant. Worth a look round. Excellent on Broad Street in Kirkwall, are very welcoming! Fabulous place - delicious food in the café, with several vegan and plenty of vegetarian options, and a great offer of souvenirs in the shop. Very friendly staff. And dogs are welcome! The woman who served us was extremely rude to my children and I. This was after spending £70 in the cafe. We should have walked out. I took my food to go. Never going back and we are locals. If that's how she treats customers I dread to think how she treats her staff! Bought some items in the front, the lady was lovely. Went to the however and the were so rude. First I ordered quiche, which I was very abruptly “we don’t have any” and while I was making bf my second choice I was glared at. Made my second choice to which they had none of either, so I stepped aside to let another man order who was also his choice wasn’t available. We went next door to the Magnus Cafe, totally different atmosphere, the ladies were lovely and up for a laugh. Don’t bother eating here. Excellent scones and ice cream! Food is great atmosphere is lovely and cozy scones are massive and plenty to go round all in all great I am temporarily handicapped and chose to sit on a bench in the store while my wife shopped. I was the bench was for customers only. I explained that my wife was shopping in the store and I was that I could sit outside. I my wife to put all the items she was planning to buy back and we left the store. I relayed the incident to the Cruise excursion people and I hope they will discourage other passengers from shopping in the store. Future cruise shoppers beware. Lovely atmosphere, lovely food and very friendly staff. Free WiFi. And they welcome dogs. What’s not to like? 10 out of 10 from me. Well.... First of all the attitude of the older serving lady in the was unbelievably poor. Very rude, dismissive, and generally made us feel quite uncomfortable. We were we couldn't sit down even though there were multiple free tables. We ordered 4 coffees and we threw them all away. Terrible, overly milky and zero taste. Food was average at best. Sausage bap was dry and flavourless and my friend's chicken wasn't very and slightly pink (raw??). Many food items are also not available for takeaway which made no sense. The arts and crafts bit of the was very nice, however. Great place to for souvenirs and knitwear. But for eating and drinking, save yourself some money and hassle and just go somewhere else for coffee/food. The daily scoop over the road is much nicer. I ordered a Rackwick and an Orkney view cardi in the and they arrived here today. Wonderful, just as good as the other two colours that I have. Thanks to all at Judith Glue for providing great products and on time. Very happy returning customer in Wiltshire, just down the road really!!!! If I could give this zero stars I would. Please heed my advice and do not come here to the café for anything - the service was utterly abysmal. We were served by both working in the café today - a man with blond hair and a woman with short brown hair with a fringe and glasses - I take it most have heard of "service with a smile", well if she could smile I'm sure her face would crack. She spoke incredibly fast and in an abrupt, rude tone, had a face like thunder and an attitude that stank to the high heavens. Same with the bloke. Two people who should not be working in the service industry and with the public. Hygiene left a lot to be desired for in the work area and they didn't clean/wash their hands properly when preparing food. In fact, the bloke even ran his hands through his greasy hair. We asked if what soup was available, to be it was finished which was fine - but the issue was the manner in which we were which was very short in tone and abrupt. The woman brought our lunch over with no eye contact whatsoever and slammed the plates down on the table. The food is extremly basic and overpriced for what it is. The cheese and oatcakes looked like it had quite literally been thrown onto the plate. Do not set foot in this place. Gezellige kadowinkel met leuke producten en een real food café met geweldige lokale producten, de beste koffie van de stad! I should have read previous reviews!! Ordered a and hot chocolate and after 20 minutes nothing arrived. Another couple who had ordered food asked for their money back after no food appeared. Had to wait a further 5 minutes to get a refund. If the blond gentleman behind the counter put as much effort in to serving people as he did bashing an empty milk bottle on the counter it might have been a good experience. Answer-don’t expect anything decent from here and go to one of the other food establishments where you will get good service!!
