Very popular and we were pleased that they could accommodate our group of 7 without a reservation and go just before the lunch rush helped. My husband and I went halves on a veggie haggis panini and a nachos with veggie haggis - enjoyed trying something a little different and local. Both were tasty as was the home made mushroom & garlic soup that my son chose. My daughter demolished her jacket potato with cheese and beans which is always a sign. As my favourite cake is victoria sponge, I couldn't resist having a slice for dessert, especially as had icing on it and this again was delicious. Great for all ages groups and group sizes and some tables were reserved. Attached was a little gift shop. Excellent comfort food! always pleasant and ensure they take all allergens seriously. A really excellent little cafe next to Sweetheart Abbey. The service is and professional, the menu is comprehensive, the food was of quality, well presented and value for money, the tea was very nice. If you are in the area give this place a visit, it is worth it. There is plenty of car parking, the toilets are fresh and clean and there is a nice gift shop. August 2021: What a lovely little restaurant/cafe set right next to the remains of the abbey. After a half day climbing up and down Criffel it's the perfect place for a refreshing tea and scones. I have been here three times, it never disappoints. A fine serving breakfast, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, paninis, soup and lots of cake with a great selection of teas and coffees, served by very staff. Scones were served with whipped cream (clotted cream is a Southern thing, when I asked!). Despite the lack of clotted cream, the were absolutely delicious, very fresh and light. Coffee was Java - wonderfully strong. We stumbled across this lovely place the day after our wedding in July 2017. Best I've ever tasted! Best cream I've ever tasted, best butter and jam I've ever tasted too! Darn coffee as well. 😁 I remember that it was so nice to sit outside and enjoy our food tea and coffee. Beautiful surroundings and the old Sweetheart Abbey is quite impressive. We have a bit of a drive from South Ayrshire but we can't wait to come back here. I'm already checking my calendar as I see you're opening on the 16th of February? 😃 ● UPDATE: September 2020. I was wondering if the would reopen after the lock down. I'm glad it did. And the are just as as I remember. I love this place. ● UPDATE: December 2020. Definitely my favourite place to come to for a lunch or a tea and a cake. Baked potato with vegetarian haggis is my favourite at the moment - and I'm not even a vegetarian. I like that haggis has just the right amount of heat in it. And yes, the are still to die for! ● UPDATE: May 2021. I was thinking to myself that I have to get a hold of the recipe for these as I'm becoming a bit fanatical about them 😉. However, it's not all about the food, is it? Well, the food plays the biggest part and believe me it is great, but it's also about the surroundings which are beautiful, the is lovely, the are always pleasant. The whole experience is a treat and I like it this way. Plus, I like to support locals and their business as much as I can, especially in these difficult times just now. Thank you for keeping this open and for cooking for us. Petite pause lors de notre passage. Si les pâtisseries sont excellentes, j'aurais aimé un accueil un peu plus chaleureux. En est il de même pour tout le monde? Had a lovely lunch sitting outside in the sunshine- over looked by the Abbey. Enjoying our meal, looks a nice inside also. were helpful and friendly. Nice gift shop at front of the building too. We enjoyed our lunch, paninis with tasty fillings. Very pleasant helpful staff. The food and service were good, and although it was busy, it was still quiet enough to hold a conversation. The rest of my party were happy with their meals and the service too. Wow! The best vegan cake I've ever had! Delicious vegan carrot cake. My husband had an amazing banoffi pie. We will be back! Lovely food..friendly staff... highly recommend.. and they do cakes for dogs 😃 I really don't know what the problem was when we went in here as it looked nice so we went in. The pointed us to outside area, then it took them 10 minutes to bring us a menu. An old lady went in to ask them what the hold up was. It then took them a further 10 minutes to take our order. I asked for a tuna panini without mayo just red onion. Another 10 minutes later it arrived with very little tuna & no red onion. My wife had the broth which she enjoyed. The place was not busy at all so that's no excuse. Service was shocking, prices where ridiculous,.... Very disappointed 😞 Fantastic tea rooms. Staff are and helpful. Wide choice of food and drinks Great just next to Sweetheart Abby. Really staff. Nice coffee and delicious slice of Banoffee pie. Such a shame the salad garnish is not as standard.it makes such a difference to the presentation.just a tiny bit of lettuce and tomato would make all the difference rather than a plain toasties on a white plate.its the only cafe I have ever seen which lacks presentation Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
