What a charming wonderful olde world style pub,the oak beams are a big feature with lots of fine furnishings placed strategically placed around,the atmosphere is very with background music,the food is outstanding and cooked from fresh straight to your plate. I opted for the large cod and homemade thick cut chips just like my mother used to make I must add the cod was large and to be honest so far it's been the best experience of fish and chips that I have had on the east coast , a wonderful dining experience and the honey pot catered for us even at short notice after a walk in,I would certainly recommend this establishment as a must visit whilst on your stay on the coast and you won't be disappointed the menu's have lots to choose from,many thanks Mr Steven Wilson Food was really and servixe was decent. Plenty drinks choices which would cater to everyone I think. Will definitely return as the food alone is a enough reason. Best pub grub ever. And always has been ! Started coming here on family holidays, decades ago and it's as as ever. Still remember the 20oz T-bone steak from 25+ years ago. Today's steak & onion pie gave that a run for its money tho. Never disappoints. This pub is attached to the caravan site. There's nothing else nearby, so unless you're prepared to travel....... It's not ac'wet' pub, preferring to open 4pm until 8pm (later, if busy). To be honest, we found the beer didn't taste 'clean', it had quite a twang to it. I suppose that's to be expected, with it not selling a lot, but at today's prices, I want a good, well kept pint! Because of this, we didn't have food here. From the outside it actually looked closed but once you are inside the decor just feels to envelop you, it's reminiscent of an old gallion inside with huge dark wooden beams and a beautiful wooden bar and surround, probably original wood floor. Food - Spot on the portion size it right (not huge), the menu is surprisingly varied but top quality and reasonably priced. The only thing that lets it down is the outside. It simply needs a little love, like the grass cutting, better signage, a lick of paint and a tidy up to replace the old outdoor benches. But that is an easy thing to overlook and it is a great place to eat out. 2 stars is being generous! I'm not sure why there are so many 5-star reviews. Small bar with limited drink choices. Only fruit cider on tap, which was disappointing. Limited wines available. The food was shocking. Huge menu for a small place, so we knew it would be bad! Frozen food served at fresh food prices! The chips were awful!! Dark brown and tasted dreadful. Old oil. Peas were tasteless. It was expensive for cheap food. Weatherspoons serve better food. The staff were and welcoming, to be fair. Stumbled across this restaurant. The food was nice, with portions at a reasonable price. Service was good, staff were friendly and welcoming. The only thing that let it down was the area we were seated had quite a lot of flies and the window area was quite dirty. Although the tables and surrounding area seemed clean. Beautiful food it was so nice. That we have been again in 4 weeks. The staff was so and friendly too. Big thanks to Faye and Kai for looking after us and making us feel so welcome such great hosts. Parked up and was worried as it looked derelict, having a meal on mother's day you would expect a super busy pub, but it was super quiet when we arrived, it did get busy as the afternoon went on. This was a large family group meal out. We walked into the pub where the wood burner was blowing out some lovely heat , the decor inside was lovely and to see. Everyone was super friendly. The food was delicious I had a beef roast dinner with a beautiful thick gravy. My husband had lasagna which he said was very nice. My son had a pepperoni pizza and my daughter had gammon which they both enjoyed very much!! This is definitely worth a visit and we will be back. Absolutely beautiful. It's the second time we have been. The korma is the best I have ever tasted! The chips are beautiful. Everything is fresh and it was served really quick even though it got busy. The waitress/bar person really was an asset to the pub. It was very busy and she managed all on her own. Lovely manners and easy to talk to. I really recommend this place. We certaintly will be back next year. Pub decor is looking a little tired. However don't let this put you off. The food is amazing. A great variety and not just the usual pub food.
