Came for a drink to get out of the sun whilst attending Leyland 53 bus event we had a pint of alpacalypse which was chilled to perfection with a nice lavender aroma about it an even bigger bonus was the fact the pub had a great atmosphere shall return when in Whitehaven in the future it's also reasonably priced Love it Great pub, proper old fashioned boozer and there aren't enough of these anymore!! Great pint and everyone is from the patrons to the bar staff. Could easily make thus my local if I lived in the area. 3 cask ales, all in top notch condition, Titanic Porter, Summer Lightening and Roosters YPA. Good price and great host. Will return. My wife and I visited the Candlestick in Sept 2020 and had a lovely time here. The staff were very friendly, great service, great drinks, very good value for money. Would definitely come back here and recommend it to others. (Having seen the last review, we are from Essex and were warmly welcomed!!) Edit: Sunday 20th April 2025 They have Scampi Fries now. New information: As of today, 19th August 2023 they have proper bottles of proper Coca-Cola too! Nice pub, great location, good selection of beers all of which are well looked after, tidy interior, clean glasses, ok selection of crisps / nuts, excellent range of comfy seating, staff, good clean toilets. Useful info: Level access (I expect likely wheelchair friendly.) Good layout (I expect likely wheelchair friendly) Less than 100 metres to defibrillator on the harbour to the north. Bus stop close by (easily less than 50 metres and level) Fish and chips, Pizza, Kebabs, Indian Food, Chinese Food, Fried Chicken, Taxi Rank all available within 100 metres or so. Can't remember was drunk 😂 Didn't have food. Great choice of beer. Doesn't matter if you enjoy real ale, lager, cider or spirits you will find plenty of options. Nice place to relax and close to the harbour or town. Will keep going back when I'm in Whitehaven. I lucked out finding this gem of a pub in Whitehaven. First class real ales, kept and served with knowledge and enthusiasm. There were three on, all in perfect condition. Very and interesting group of regulars made me feel very welcome indeed. Pub immaculately throughout.
