This is a gastro pub extraordinaire. I ordered 10 shrimp and my main (no starter) and was full to bursting. The prices are higher than average but the food is better than anything else in Cornwall. This was by far the best meal we had all week during our stay in Cornwall. The pub itself is a chocolate box, thatched roof building, next to the river. The staff were lovely and friendly and the chef, well, one word: WOW! The food was excellent. I hope the chef knows how good he actually is because the flavours were just amazing. Very talented. What an amazing find! Food was magnificently presented and tasted fantastic 😍 the gentleman who served us was so friendly and engaging. Beautiful weather to make the most of the garden by the water...I can't recommend it enough and we will definitely be visiting again when we're in the area. Thanks 😎 I didn’t expect to find such unique food in such a small community in Cornwall! Full of pub atmosphere, yet with food fit for downtown in any big city. We stopped for a drink in the afternoon and went back for dinner. Dinner! Wow! I had the lamb and my husband had the lemon sole. Not your typical presentations either. Very creative and delicious. You must try the strawberry pavlova. I’ve had pavlova before but never this good! Talk about melt-in-your-mouth! Nice entertainment too! (Saturday night) Me and mum had a stop here at lunch, and it was the first time we had ever come here despite passing many times. It was a fantastic pub with great food and a wonderful host. As it was lunch we got a few starters between us including a cheese tart, a duck terrine, wild.mushrooms and tempura prawns. They even gave us a pork bonbon which was delicious. The good was amazing and the host was fun and attentive. Will definitely stop again for more. The Wheel inns Sunday roast has gone straight to the top of my top 10 roasts in Cornwall. Upon arrival the staff were super friendly and welcoming, we were sat very quickly. The atmosphere was lovely, it's a small pub and all the tables were full but you do not feel squashed in. The food was delicious. The lamb was beautifully cooked and had so much flavor, the potatoes were crispy and fluffy. The cauliflower cheese was perfect and veg was colourful, fresh and tasty. The Yorkshire !!! Oh my... the mouthwatering suprise inside was amazing. THEY GIVE YOU EXTRA GRAVY!!! The roast is extremely filling but it did not stop me from sharing a desert & taking one home for later! ( Which did not last long one I had tried it). The nods and sounds from other table as they tucked in just shows how much people were enjoying their food. Highly recommend and I can not wait for back and try there normal menu. The Wheel Inn does a fantastic Sunday lunch, the Yorkshire Puddings are huge. The Homity Pie was delicious as was the roast beef. There was a wonderful mix of vegetables and be warned, the portions are huge😁. They are happy for well behaved dogs to join you. This place is very small so booking is essential. We took my mum to the Wheel for her 90th birthday. They gave us an entire room so we could decorate it. The staff are so friendly and accommodating and couldn't do enough for us to make everything perfect. The food is literally off the scale, honestly they have put so much effort into the menu and I think they get alot of the ingredients from their own farm! The beer garden is right by the river with plenty of tables. You have got to go!
