The Codmother

Bangor, United Kingdom Fish and chips takeaway

One of the Best Places To Visits in Newborough Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Lovely fish n chips. Quick service and reasonable prices. Only 0.7 miles away from our campsite so close enough for food still to be hot. Definitely worth a visit for a chippy tea plus a curry sauce Friendly local chip shop. Nice, slightly thinner cut chips, but still satisfyingly chunky. Tasty curry sauce, does pea fritters too, although sadly were out of stock of banana fritters and battered mars bars when we visited. Nice little seating area too. Main downside: cash only. Come on guys, make it easy for us to spend more money! The food was nice staff where friendly and waited a reasonable amount of time for what we brought wasn’t many for a regular size though but overall good I thought chippies were meant to be fast food. Over a 20 minute wait for just one portion of and curry sauce. Price expensive for the area, plus they charge 10p for a wooden fork! were the worst I've ever had in my life. Not proper thick cut chippy chips, cut from fresh potatoes, but frozen thinner oven style chips. Oil not hot enough so the were undercooked and seriously soggy/oily. Curry sauce was rank too and so watered down it was impossible to dunk the in. I ate about 5 then they went straight in the bin. That's what you get when you hire teenagers to man the fryer. Despite what the owner claims, I haven't got all confused and reviewed the wrong chippy. were definitely frozen as I saw a large bag of frozen being taken out of the chest freezer behind the till. The only older woman working there was in the till. The others were all teenage girls. Added a photo as proof I haven't reviewed the wrong chippy and just so show how soggy rank they were Fish and were very nice. Ordered and ready within 10 minutes. Just the perfect portion size too. Reasonably priced which is a bonus. Very friendly staff Thanks! Lovely hot food, the order ahead for collection on the web at a specific time is perfect we had cheese burger and and fish and and 2 curry sauce, it was delicious ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Superb Fish and Chips. One of the best fish and we’ve ever had. Staff were lovely too. Fish was cooked fresh to order so a short wait for it to be prepared, but no problem. Recommended! This place is great for coeliacs on a diet as this chippy is unable to provide gluten free food if they are busy. Potential customers are encouraged to exercise by being told that they cater for gluten free when contacted prior to attending meaning that people can get their steps in on a wasted journey. They promote a strong wellbeing culture for their staff by ensuring that they are not contactable by phone approaching meal times and if the phone does ring, they ensure that it isn't answered. Be wary of attending this place at peak times as if it gets busier, they may not be able to serve any food at all. -10/10 would avoid again.
