I'd not played it before but I will certainly be playing it again. It's a long course and personally, I didn't take any woods, which proved to be a call! Sat in a picturesque parkland, with squirrels and rabbits admiring your game, the course is long, the were and although the fairways had recently had some work done to them, the course played very well. We didn't get chance to pop into the clubhouse, due to finishing late but after chatting to course regulars, the food is suppose to be very good. Finally, the pro shop is well stocked, with some bargains to be had and staffed by two cracking chaps, If you haven't played the course, I would certainly suggest you give it a try! A parkland track which, i am sure would be really really with some tlc and irrigation. Very wet almost bog like in areas with that looked a little patchy, maybe fusarium??? But was played in winter so would like to come back in the summer. A lot of work ongoing to the bunkers which will look once done. Club hse, food and staff all as well. The course is in condition, returning after almost 20 years away and to trees have grown. Still a challenge. are in really condition, additional drainage added to certain holes, effort Amazing course, and all the staff are very helpful and accommodating. The green keepers respect the golfers even when working on the fairways or greens. This is the only course I've contemplated joining as I like to play different courses each week..... First thing first Chris in the professionals shop was outstanding, very friendly, chatty a delight to talk to just what you want to receive when you are visiting as it does set the tone for your round. And now onto the golf course. The 1st is as tight as you like, the 2nd a lovely par 3 the 3rd a test of your course management and then the course opens up a bit. I have to say this is one of the best layed out golf course I have played for some time, such a selection of holes and for a flat course some wonderfull views down the fairways. The green complexes and run offs just make the most of the gentle slopes of the ground, lovely. Enjoyed the shapes of the holes and the way the bunkers are placed to make you think that bit more before you blast away. Yes I know there are more famous courses in the area but please do not over look Normanby its a cracker with so much to offer golfers of all standards its a feast for the eyes and a challenge for any golf swing and a must play so put it on your list. As a member I am probably bias, but as a municipal course it is very well maintained. The course offers a variety of challenging holes with a test for golfers of all abilities. Try it, you won't be disappointed. Played twice in the last year and credit to the green staff the course is getting back to its best. The last 12 months the have improved 100% and nice to see the fairways taking shape. challanging course with lovely staff who all seem to enjoy their work. big thumps up and carry on the work guys.
