The menu is very typical pub food with a few flatbreads too. We just had one course - me the mixed grill and my wife the fish and chips. The mixed grill is a sensible size and all of the meat items were cooked beautifully - even the small was medium rare which is tough to do with a small piece of steak. The fish and chips was crispy and tasty - though the mushy peas were almost solid! Good food at a great value with our voucher. My partner and I stayed for 2 nights, our room was lovely and cosy. We loved having the pub on the doorstep. The staff were really friendly. Our breakfasts were so good and fresh! Thankyou 😊 Recently changed management team and it's clear. I had the signature burger and it was honestly the best burger I've had in a long time! Breakfast menu posted as missing from website. Breakfast served until 10am on weekdays and until 11am on weekends. I wouldn't recommend a visit! I am staying in the hotel overnight and booked a table for my evening meal. The pub/restaurant was extremely busy, with the team being a member of staff down due to illness. I was advised it would be a little bit of a longer wait, which is fine. It was worth it! I had the pie, which was amazing and cooked to perfection!! As were the veggies!! The staff were really p rofessional, friendly and hard working. Special mention to Ruby, Lottie & Maria for persevering on what looked like a difficult shift - it is appreciated. We booked 2 nights accommodation with The Green Dragon and arrived early evening Saturday to a bustling bar of enjoyment. Staff very friendly even though they were so busy. Lovely sized room on ground floor as had requested due to mobility issue. We had our dinner in the pub both days and the food and service were excellent. Wonderful find in a beautiful setting, we are coming back. After a day out we decided to have a roast after the amazing reviews. I ordered the beef and was disappointed with the meat. Had to ask for a knife to cut it as it was solid and the cutlery on the table was a butter knife. Vegetables, roast potatoes and homemade yorkshire pudding were the best part of the meal. I wouldn’t normally leave a review after visiting a pub but this experience was so bad that I don’t think I have a choice. Firstly the good points, the pub is looks lovely from the outside and the decor is cosy and welcoming inside. Staff were nice enough and a great selection of beers, no real complaints here. Now the food, £12.99 for a sandwich and £16.99 for two course lunch set menu, not the worst prices. The sandwich was well done when it was ordered medium, first strike. Then the “chicken strips” and “triple cooked fries”. No exaggeration this was the worst meal I’ve ever had, the chicken tasted like five deep fried bits of leather and the triple cooked chips were barely cooked once. I wouldn’t pay 50p for this meal. I can only suspect that the full time chef had called in sick on this day and the cleaner had stepped in the cover in the kitchen. On a serious note I would get rid of this lunch menu or make it simpler, or even cheaper just so mange the expectations of new punters.
