Fabulous lunch, great portions. Highly recommend the fish and chips and muscles Between a rock and a hard plaice. Why only a 3 star rating? The welcome was OK, the food was OK, the atmosphere was OK. Because none of it felt genuine. The fish was flaky and fresh. The chips were soggy and tasteless. The service had a thin veneer of tolerance rather than welcome. We were in and out in 45 minutes. The time didn't drag. pub food. An amazing place to hang out, have a drink, and watch a match on TV with other interested people. Fast and competent service personnel. The price-performance ratio is excellent. Stopped here after a wild walk with a party of 7 for dinner. There was a children's menu, pizza and burgers. I had a fish pie. The potato was a bit watery with not much fish . The vegetables were good, nice large carrots with lots of flavour. Muscles and pie was good. Nice pizzas Lovely little pub, recommended from our climbing guide book! I imagine the perfect place to have a drink post-climb. We went for dinner and I must say the food was quite pricey for what it was. I paid £30 for a crab linguine that seemed to be missing crab and was very bland. The burger was nice but again nothing special! We did get the mussels too and they were very good, tasted fresh. Definitely a spot for a drink post-walk, the interior is super cute and the staff were lovely! Lovely meal here whilst on holiday. It’s clearly a thriving local pub with lots of character. Staff were friendly and food was served quickly. The pie was very substantial and tasty. Will return when next in the area. It’s a nice little pub with low ceilings and a atmosphere on a Sat evening. The service was reasonable. I had the fish pie (£24). Given where we were and the price, it’s disappointing. A relatively small dish of cheesy fishy mash potato. I can see a few other reviews expressing similar! Probably time to take that one off the menu, or do it properly. In summary, bang average pub food at a premium price… but otherwise, it’s a nice little pub in a lovely part of Cornwall Nice traditional pub serving a range of real ales. Staff friendly and attentive. Food way, way over priced !!! I was expecting something special for the price we paid but linguine was average at best. The mussels were better but again over-priced. The bread roll that would normally come as standard with mussels cost an extra £2.50. Suffice to say we skipped the sweet and coffee. In essence the pub is excessively exploiting the passing tourist trade.
