Unfortunately, our visit was disappointing. My husband experienced a touch of food poisoning after eating the mussels, which understandably put a damper on the evening. I ordered the battered fish and chips, a very basic plate with garden peas (no option for mushy peas which is unusual), greasy batter, and chips that tasted strongly of old frying oil. At £22, it felt overpriced for the quality. Although the venue is dog-friendly, we were questioned about the size of our dog before being seated, which made the welcome feel less than warm. The decor of the pub was basic and there was a smell of toilets on entering the premises initially. Overall, the food was very expensive for the area, and we’ve found better quality and value elsewhere locally. Would not recommend. What a superb pub. Landlord and lady couldn't be more welcoming and accommodating. Really polite and friendly staff and exceptional service. Great menu and clotted cream curry highly recommended! Simply superb food. The burger my lad had was possibly the nicest I have tasted. Excellent service from the lovely waitress and land lady. We will definitely be heading back next time we are down this way. Visited this pub while staying on Looe as It was dog friendly and we had our Cockapoo with us. Easy to get to and find from Looe, All the members of the staff were absolutely fantastic, warm, friendly, welcoming, even when our puppy was making a mess of the floor 🤦 The food was amazing, the Bread we had for starter is probably the best we've ever had anywhere, the mains were all superb aswell, great big table also with plenty of room for 4of us. W couldn't find fault with The Plough on our visit. If your in the area, definitely go for food. Very welcoming owner and staff. Food was excellent. They managed to squeeze us in as we had not made a booking. Food came quickly though we felt it was lacking in quality for what it was charged. The food was pleasant but I have had better for less. Staff were friendly although we were asked by 3 different people if we were ready to order. Unsure whether this was due to staff miscommunication or due to the fact they were busy and needed our table to be vacated fairly quickly. What a fantastic find, definately need to book but well worth it. Very friendly, family run, relaxed place but food to die for, all locally sourced and cooked to perfection.
