Called in for dinner having umpired a cricket match down the road. Very pleasant dining area with some menu staples alongside some slightly more unusual choices. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Large car park however access appears to be only through the front door with steps up. We will call again. i rarely give 5 star reviews but, having now been 4 times over the last year, i cannot rate it highly enough. It's not perfection (minor annoyances i'll not go into here), but it is close. As a creature of habit i tend to order the same Main until i get bored, and have had the three meats roast each and every time.. And never once been let down. Chicken is chicken.. But the beef is always cooked perfectly and tender.. And the pork is always the standout meat on the plate for me, with a perfectly crisp (though not tooth-chipping) skin that just melts in the mouth. Eaton mess is a family (sweet) favourite for pudding. Guinness is spot on and the lagers are lively. Staff are managed well and are attentive and polite. 😎 Fantastic pub. Awesome food and 5* service. Celebrated a significant birthday there and we were treated exceptionally well. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. My first visit to to the Nag's Head and won't be the last. The food was wonderful and flavoursome. I enjoyed the burger while my partner enjoyed the sausage and mash. Shall definitely be back! I ordered the brie wedges and a 6oz burger. They both came out piping hot and hastily without delay. They both were gorgeous and gooey. Having found the establishment in a local theatre programme, it was a gem that we could have missed!! Staff are super friendly and eager to serve you. Recently moved closer to Wollaston so have visited here 3-4 times, not had a bad experience yet! The food is decent quality pub food, we’ve had a roast also and that was nice. The service is always friendly and the beer is good. Would recommend! Second here with a friend and loved it. Sea bass the first and vegan burger the second. Both yummy. I also loved the fact I could still get a hot drink in the evening as most places don't serve hot drinks after a certain but I was still drinking hot chocolate at 9pm with oat milk as a plus. I feel they cater to all and will definitely be going back! More quality bistro favourites served by a crew that's always top notch. Amazing value and thanks for another great time. Atmospheric ambience of old pub, yet modern feel. Warm and welcoming staff. Special mention for Juel, Sam and Maxim. With a selection of delicious and freshly made food . The manager was really great, passionate and happy to explain aspects of the menu, I went for the venison loin which was unbelievably tender and full of flavour! The Nag's Head kindly hosted a birthday buffet for a 90 year old gentleman. 15 elderly villagers had a wonderful and the food was wonderful. There was enough to send everyone home with food for tea!! The were extremely accommodating. my friend & 1 visited Sunday 27th July we meet every few months & like to try a new venue we're 10 years into this now and we both agreed this was one of the best Sunday lunches we've had. The were so friendly knowledgeable and accommodating nothing was to much trouble. The food was just fantastic, we may have to break our golden rule and return ! Thank you to all a really lovely Sunday lunch experience, keep up the work. Beautiful pub with delicious food and great service. We visited for a Sunday roast and even though every table was full, the service was still fantastic. Great atmosphere. The lamb shank roast is not to be missed and my husband particularly loved the Eton mess! The Nags Head accommodated my group of 18 at very short notice. They were more than happy to fit us into one of their separate dining rooms. The food was - a number of mixed 'nibbles' as a starter, and I ordered Calves Liver and Bacon. I thought it might be a mistake given the size of our group, in that it would be over-cooked. I was delighted to find that it was perfectly cooked - pink and tender. The were very friendly and helpful too. Overall a very experience and I recommend anyone give them a try. Booked a small private room for my wife’s birthday, fantastic food at a price. range of beers and ciders. I would highly recommend. We decided to use this pub for my daughter’s 40th birthday in the back room and so glad we did! The and manager were fantastic in every way and left us to decorate the room as we wanted.. food was amazing and couldn’t rate this place enough.. Thankyou to all the who helped from the start of an email replying swiftly to letting me veiw the room and moving tables about to show me how to accommodate everyone.. you were all truely fantastic … I’ve now recommended another friend for her husbands 40th and know she won’t be dissspointed ! Don’t hesitate on this lovely little pub.. go!!! Sunday roast and Billingsgate on a plate are amazing! Gently and the girls are beyond spectacular..always a smile and the very best service..always looked after!! Appreciate all you guys do!!! Went for a family birthday meal for my 70th. The were friendly & very obliging, nothing was to much trouble. Lovely atmosphere & all food we ordered was delicious, plentiful & reasonably priced. Would very highly recommend.
