Decent little pub, feels like you're in the middle of nowhere but nice beer garden at the side and has a TV to watch football. Its easy to find and to park up. The perfect local, often packed with, well… locals. A proper pub with low beams historical photographs and a real fire in inclement weather. Always a range of excellent beers beautifully kept and the food is a cut above your average pub grub - pan fried hake with a lobster bisque, 12 hour braised blade of beef, and the steak and Stilton pie to die for. The landlords, Simon and Louise, have a loyal staff, often young, who clearly like working there. Even midweek evenings are busy and if you want to eat at weekends I suggest you book in advance - but well worth it. But if you’re around or above six feet tall mind your head on those beams! I had the shawarma flat bread and I think it was one of the best lunches I’ve ever had - absolutely gorgeous. My daughter had the giant couscous salad which was equally impressive. Food was served promptly and without fuss and our 3 dogs were made welcome in the bar area. The couple next to us had the pie and mash which looked amazing. Faultless service and impeccable food.
