We visited whilst working in the area. Pub wasn’t too busy when we went and there was plenty of parking round the back. Lots of menu options. We had some burgers and the portion sizes were good. Staff were friendly. From posters in the pub seems they have a quiz and curry night on a Wednesday. We had rented a cottage in the village and decided to try the White Horse, despite some of the reviews. The pub is situated on the main road through the village with ample parking on the car park. It also has a lawned area with seating provided. On entering the pub we were greeted by very staff and shown to a table. There was a selection of food on both the menu and specials board, to cover all tastes. The pub was busy, had a atmosphere and there were plenty of places to sit. The decor was quirky and in keeping with the age of the pub. Our food was served by a waitress. It was well presented and tasted delicious. We enjoyed our evening so much, we returned again twice that week. The final night we booked the Seafood Platter, which was exceptional and definitely could be shared by 3 or 4 people. A must if you love fish. I cannot fault this pub at all. The staff are warm and very friendly. By the end of the week you felt like a local. We will definitely return. The staff are and attentive. Nicely kept beers and a variety of other drinks options. We booked for a Sunday roast, a selection of meat and veg. available. Plenty of tables inside and also outside in a large beer garden. They host live music as well as other events. As we were staying in the village we also made use of their takeaway service, great fish & chips 👍 Petty place as far as village pubs go. Staff are friendly, menu is varied, and atmosphere is pleasant. Plenty of parking and the pub garden is large. We visited for the Lucid gig, very enjoyable, chaotic car parking, we stayed for dinner afterwards, dinner was very nice, a bit slow but they were busy, we did reserve a table but that hadn't been done... Confusion and mix ups behind the bar with who paid for what, table numbers and food being delivered to the wrong tables.. one of those days, but need some better organisation, flustered when under pressure, and overhearing someone wanting to punch someone in the face not really appropriate in front of customers. Fabulous pub in whitwell. Friendly welcome Great food (portions generous) Good prices Great atmosphere Dogs welcomed Watched a couple sing 80s on the Friday who were really and watched England play on the Saturday. Would definitely recommend if your in the area. Great pub, fabulous staff and the food is amazing. Would definitely recommend a visit here, especially if you have a huge appetite because the portions are rather on the large size but very delicious. We’ve just eaten at the White Horse and it Was an absolutely fantastic experience! The staff were and accommodating and the food was delicious. My only critic is that portion sizes are on the larger size but really that isn’t a negative as the quality of the food wasn’t jeopardised at all. You could tell that the Landlady really loves her pub and it’s Easy to see why so many other people love it too. We would definitely come again next time we are on the island.
