Met Michelle, the owner and she made us feel so welcome we returned again the next day for drinks. We will be coming back on Friday for the dinner and live music. Highly recommend Very mixed feelings about my Sunday roast meal here. I'll start with the disappointing parts: - Yorkshire puddings were almost cold. Clearly prepared some time ago, so they were a bit stale. - small portions: 2 thin slices of pork and one of beef. Single carrot. Just three small roast potatoes! This is really poor honestly. - the beef was extremely tough and chewy. Could have done with a steak knife, the regular table knife had a hard time with it. The good: - very good service and friendly attitude from all of the staff I interacted with. Really well done on this front. - aside from the beef & yorkies, the rest of meal was well cooked and tasty Would I come here again? I don't think so. Should you absolutely avoid it? I also don't think so. Seems I just got a bit unlucky, based on other reviews. 🤷🏻 Very warm welcome by the owner. Lots of open table space. Full of style and caricature a really well presented old fashioned feeling English pub-restaurant. Very well done to all the staff. The food was excellent too. The service was amazing…however outdone by the quality of the food and the portions are good value for money. Would definitely recommend a visit. We took a long time to decide what we wanted and the waitress was so patient with us. We had the salt and pepper chicken strips for a starter; pie & mash and sausages and mash for mains. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. Would definitely return again soon :) thank you to the lovely lady who served us this evening. Be aware, the food photos and specials boards are from previous owners and bear no reality to the current situation. Some of the recent five star reviews include things like photos that are obviously taken in the kitchen, so not genuine reviews, and pictures from the pubs own FB page. Having eaten here since the current management took over, my advice is avoid at all costs. There are far, far better (and cheaper) places locally. Oh, and a 3 for food standards isn't impressive either, not when previous landlords never, ever, dropped below a 5. Came here around 1.30pm and it was totally dead which was surprising considering how busy the villiage was, now I see why. We ordered a simple panini, chicken fajitas and cheesy chips. After 45 minutes of waiting (remember the place is empty) the waitress finally comes out to announce there has been electrical issues in the kitchen, another 10 minutes or so we were served with probably one of the most disgusting meals I've been presented since living on the island. The panini was stale and horrid, the chips look like they had just been left in the cooker during the 'issues' The fajitas were ok or at least the chicken was, the bread part was more like a hard taco shell.
