There is ample parking and sufficient space for quite a few Motorhomes. There are a couple of pathways along the and all travel upstream. It is possible to do a circular to cross over the if you intend staying for a few hours and feel energetic. The can be a spectacle especially in times of high precipitation and with plenty of viewing points along the way. We were highly recommended this reserve for wildlife. There is multiple routes and educational posts on the walks as well as a hide. It was a very wet day so we did not see much but we would love to come back and try again A lovely circular walk, bit in need of some upkeep sadly ruined by so much discarded rubbish and food! Beautiful nature reserve. Dogs allowed on leads, lovely easy trails. We stopped on a road trip, no phone signal 📡 I stopped on the main A470 , then walked up the right side of the stream. There were some steps and steeper sections and rough , narrow paths. The visitor centre was one room with tea and coffee and an honesty box . There was also a toilet .There were some short video clips of the area which were interesting . I walked back along the nirth side of the stream . I nearly missed the trout jumping boardwalk as it is not clearly signed. The path was a lot rougher, rocky, and difficult in places. I think improvements to the path need to be done before it gets dangerous. Also, take a strimer along the path south side of the as the path is extremely narrowed because of the bracken and brambles. The outside of the visitor centre needs to be cut back so that the old farm machinery can be seen clearly . It all looks a bit forgotten and not cared for. There are also cows with calves , so stay away from them as they can be very protective. We took the "10 minute" path from the visitor centre, and then carried on up the hill to the ridge line for beautiful views in every direction. The track up to the visitor centre is slightly "exciting": steep, narrow and windy with almost no passing places. Savvy people seemed to be parking on the verges of the main road and walking from there. What an absolute gem of a place. Shhhh if this was in the Lake District it would be swarming! It’s stunning . I walked uphill from Rhayader and was greeted by a view that’s just wow wow wow. Then downhill to the reserve itself, just stunning countryside with the and a waterfall to boot , views all around you . The prehistoric is enthralling, see the rocks with what would have been here millions of years ago . It’s a place I will go back to as soon as many trails to complete in superb peace and quiet. Having stopped in Llanidloes we decided to drive on and find a walking area. We saw a sign for Gilfach and parked just inside the main entrance. What a surprise we had a great up to the old farm stopping occasionally to admire the views and look for fish in the clear waters of the river. This place is fantastic if you want a quiet with some amazing views. A number of trails to pick from which all loop round back to roughly where the main carpark is. There's a small visitor centre there that has maps and some other basic information. Toilets available. We took our 2 dogs and had no issues with the livestock on site, we kept them on leads for the entire walk. Beautiful place to spend a few hours wandering amongst nature. We parked in the top car park and walked almost all of the trails apart from a bit of the purple. The green was quite strenuous but the picnic at the summit with the views was amazing! We felt like we had the place to ourselves as the only other people we saw were at the entrance car park. Be sure to leave a little donation towards the upkeep of this beautiful place.
