Emailed about booking a table for 4, received a response of 'we dont cook tuesdays'. Nowhere on the website does it say this, nor did the staff member give a welcoming impression or bother to tell me when they do serve food. So the next day I email again... yes they serve food on Wednesdays. I reply instantly to book a table... and no-one bothered to reply. Its like they dont want the customers. I mean its not the most inviting place from the outside, but even the staff didn't want to know. I was only enquiring as I was on the campsite next door... We enjoyed a relaxed lunch/ afternoon at the Severn Arms. A great choice of beers and ciders available all at really reasonable prices. The service was warm and friendly, we were made to feel very welcome on a hot Thursday afternoon. We enjoyed the curry from the specials board. Very tasty, fresh and piping hot. Really nice to get the half and half mix of chips and rice, and a good portion size too. Other plates coming out also looked delicious, large and fresh too (we all went for the curry!) The garden was beautiful with a choice of seating (on the terrace) if you are eating or further down/closer to the river if not. We would definitely recommend and will return again when in the area again. we didn't stay but a group of us ate food here, recommend the homemade curry! it was delicious! all of us were served at the same time, great team, smiling faces, nothing was too much effort! all of us will be going back over summer, the children were welcomed and had a great time exploring the grounds! Lovely place, definitely go visit this place, it was brilliant! Today we turned up around 14.15, and waited at the bar to ask about ordering some food, having read positive reviews online. The woman behind the bar gave us a disgusting look as soon as we walked in, didn't say anything or greet us, and served people who had obviously approached the bar after we did. We were shocked by this, and opted to leave rather than wait for her to develop some basic decorum, as we didn't want to spend our hard-earned money in a place where we don't feel comfortable. Overall I got a racist impression from this experience, and would not recommend entering into this establishment on this basis. I didn't stay here but popped in for a few drinks and a meal. A lovely warm welcome, very friendly environment, a nice range of beers and good food. Would very much recommend Today we have enjoyed the most wonderful Carvery. All the food homemade. Beef was so tender. Would recommend to anyone.
