Communication beforehand was very friendly and quick, which I appreciated. However, once we arrived, we felt a bit lost and had to wait for quite a while. The looked tired and broken in spirit, which immediately raised concerns for me. I started regretting my booking, worried that I might be supporting a place that doesn’t truly prioritize animal welfare. We were part of a very large group, so there was no individual guidance. The young girls assisting us seemed at times overwhelmed. The handling of the reminded me of riding schools from the 90s: whips were used to get the moving, reins were pulled roughly — practices I personally find very concerning. The riding experience itself was disappointing. We were only allowed to trot for a few seconds, which was frustrating since both my daughter and I are experienced riders and have had our own horses. Other stables manage to adjust rides depending on the riders’ experience and at the same show more care for the animals. As an animal psychologist with a background in both dogs and horses, I found this experience especially sad. Stables like this are the reason I chose to stop working with altogether and now only work with dogs. In the end, my daughter was upset, as she felt sorry for the and disliked seeing the whip being used. I believe people without prior knowledge might still enjoy the experience here. But for those familiar with and who value respectful handling, this stable may not be the right place. Very mixed thoughts if I’m honest - 1 hour ride. The communication when I initially enquired was great, very quick, responsive and accommodating 👍🏻 When I arrived, I was left waiting for 15/20 minutes, the only person around was a young child who told me to just fill out a rider form. My was brought round (sorry, I can’t remember his name) and all was well, really lovely horse. The group was taken into the school to begin with to make sure that we were all comfortable with our horses, and with walking & trotting paces. Once we got onto the track to begin our ride, within two minutes, my decided he wasn’t going to move….at all….the instructor leading the kept shouting at me to kick him and use the whip, which I was doing, but he wouldn’t budge (quite embarrassing in a group ride). The wasn’t responding to me! She had to call someone from the yard to come and pull him along slightly so he could be attached to the lead rope. We got going again and later in the ride, the lead rope was taken off, the exact same thing happened, and we were back on the lead rope, and it was the same on the way back too. I understand that these need to be steady and placid but they need to have some forwardness and responsiveness about them too. I’ve ridden most of my life so I’m no novice, but I’ve never ridden a so unresponsive. The views on the were incredible though 🗻🏔️ My 1st on a horse. Fantastic experience, Teddy is a gentle giant & was great to ride. All the staff were brilliant & had us riding in no time, then off into the hills with scenic view's of Caernarfon & the sea. A memorable event i will never forget. We rode the 2hr viewpoint on a Sunday afternoon and loved it. The communication, beforehand via email and on the day by phone, was great. We found the stables easily, clearly signposted and on arriving found the parking and reception areas were clearly visible. We were warmly welcomed, hats fitted and taken through to the yard to meet our horses. The yard was clean and all we saw were in great condition. In our group we had a novice and an experienced rider and felt the were very well matched. The initial introduction in the school is such a good idea, especially for the novice rider! Once we were all happy we set off on our ride. The route has a really good mix of country road, mountain path and field with a good amount of trotting and canter options for those able to. The views are beautiful the whole ride! I will most definitely be returning and would highly recommend to all ability riders. Great 2 hour with views to die for & as a first rider was given a 10 minute crash course on how to and felt very comfortable and confident although star of the show was Teddy my an absolute legend and looked after me from begining to end! Our family did the 2hr viewpoint (fabulous views) followed by the half day mountain (even better views) a few days later. Staff were so friendly and helpful, taking photos and accommodating a last minute change of plan, and matched to riders perfectly. We rode Ellie, Annie, Beauty, Teddy and Lucky. They were all beautifully cared for and turned out and the staff clearly love them. We all had a fabulous and will definitely come back if we get the chance. Would highly recommend! This may be the best trail I've been on. The ponies were well cared for, the tack was well fitted and our guide Katie was fantastic. I appreciate that they test riders before the 3hr mountain because there's definitely more technical portions including plenty of trot, a couple canters and ending with the fabulous gallop hill. I already miss Peaches and her lovely cob mustache. Until next ❤️ Attended 24th Sept Beautiful weather arrived lovely clean stables friendly staff. Filled in registration forms. Matched me to a for my size and ability taken into school to check the basics then out for a hack into beautiful countryside. Had a super safe amazing on Teddy. Instructor was excellent kept everyone safe and confident I had the best every so much so that I fully intend to return next month making the 2hr drive from home to Come back. 100% recommend this riding centre for all abilities. Thank you for making my holiday perfect.
