My daughter cones here for swimming lessons and loves it. The pool is nice and warm too which helps. The lessons are never too big and are informal enough for here to be relaxed but still learn. The younger lad doing training now isn't as good as the previous person, but that's down to experience. Never done the other activities available but always been told positive things about them. I had an amazing paddleboarding — the whole experience exceeded my expectations! The location was absolutely beautiful and made the perfect backdrop for a day on the water. What really stood out were the people — super friendly, welcoming, and helpful every step of the way. They made the whole thing even more enjoyable. I’d definitely go again and next I’m excited to try kayaking and see what else they have to offer. Whether you’re a beginner or more experienced, it’s a great place to get out on the water and have a blast. Highly recommend! Just did a 5 day sailing course (competent crew) Had an absolutely amazing time. Our skipper Simon was fantastic, highly experienced, super friendly, proper good laugh & had the patience of a saint, despite packing such a huge amount of training into 5 days we had a great balance of full on training & chill time. He absolutely made this trip amazing, especially with his knowledge of nature too made it extra special. I think the review is more about Simon than Plas Menai to be fair! I did the intermediate windsurfing course at Plas Menai and had a brilliant time! Even though the winds were really light, the team made sure we got the most out of the sessions. Mo was an awesome instructor – super encouraging, knowledgeable, and kept the whole group motivated. The centre itself is well-organised and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Can’t wait to come back when the wind picks up! We stayed as a group in the newly renovated cottages. We liked the arrangement with the bedrooms having en-suites and the space generally. We really liked the outside area at the back. Overall we would return, the only negatives being the standard of the cleanliness in the cottage could have been improved (particularly the bedroom floors needed a mop) and we thought the middle aged lady working in the swimming pool was very unwelcoming. Staff all great besides that. Had a great paddle boarding, lovely place and our instructor- Woody was amazing , really friendly and helpful! Would definitely recommend! Lots of fun! We had an amazing sailing weekend with our skipper Ollie! His extensive knowledge—shaped by his experience in ocean racing—was evident throughout. He actively engaged us in all aspects of sailing, from preparations and safety to sharing practical advice on handling challenges at sea. His cooking was a delightful bonus, and his youthful, positive energy made the experience even more enjoyable. Our crew shared plenty of laughs and unforgettable moments. We highly recommend choosing Ollie as your skipper and hope to sail with him again soon! Attended a Competent crew course on Menai IV yacht. The course instructor, Mike, was excellent. He is a true professional and gave excellent instruction in a calm and measured way. The yacht was well equipped and the personal clothing provided was new and in good condition. The food provided was substantial and of a high standard. All in all I would recommend Plas Menai for a competent crew course.
