We were a party of 5 and had a really enjoyable meal on Monday - see photos. They were tasty, filling and faultless. 2nd visit tonight 3 days later and 27th March ..........the experience was totally different. 3 spot on but two specials of pulled turkey with potato rings, cranberry sauce etc in a beetroot bun never made it to the table and presented as clearly stated on the menu. ☹️ We were served a standard bun, no pulled turkey, two thin breaded burgers, no cranberry, but bacon, cheese and onion rings. Certainly not what we ordered. ☹️. I got up to check the menu at the bar, just in case we had misunderstood but no, what we had been served didn't match. Reported it to the waitress and she took the menu from me and went into the kitchen with it. She then came back to the table and asked if we wanted the meal changing...... obviously we did as two didn't match what we were expecting or the item on the menu !!! 😡 Eventually our arrived. No pulled turkey, no potato rings but onion rings. How hard can it be to get it right or at least say we haven't got x,y and z and offer an alternative but certainly don't just try to pass it off to your customers without explanation and expect them to just accept it ! Why should the experience be so different? Different chef, chef does not understand the printed menu, chef doesn't explain to the waitress the fact the ingredients aren't available ? Who knows but it needs to be sorted out. I even pointed out the onion and not potato rings to the waitress at the end but no apology was forthcoming, in fact she found it funny. 😡 I personally wouldn't have paid full price as our party didn't eat together because two unacceptable went back. Two were repeatedly wrong. 😡. Alas, an elderly relative was treating us and she didn't want a fuss made. At the end of the day it was a really bad experience. Just wish I had taken photos of the 2nd meal. I had the most amazing roast dinner at this lovely gastropub. The food was cooked to perfection, full of flavour, and generously portioned. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the surrounding scenery added to the charm, making it a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, great service, and a beautiful setting! Disabled friendly! Wide doors, all level & sensible tables. As a wheelchair user it's a big. Food was lovely, big portions and reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back. My only problem here was the steak. I don't expect much as it's not a steakhouse. I asked for medium rare and what I received was very overcooked. To be fair they took it back and tried again, but the next attempt was blue/rare. Not sure if this was just the chef they had on that night but I saw two other people sending back. However, my partner had the steak and ale pie which was lovely, plus they have some good beers on. Fully recommended this gastro pub if you are in the area. The food arrived quickly and was superb, big portions but too good not to eat it all! We had to get desserts to go because we didn't want to go without but couldn't eat it we were so full. We also had 3 dogs with us who were also accommodated easily, and the table we had was perfect for us in the corner out of the way. The staff were all very friendly and the service was excellent. It's the first time we have visited the area but would definitely come back here, top notch 👌 Used to visit this place every year when I was young. We stayed at the Granary (Henblas) just up the road every year and we'd always stop in to this place for a bite to eat and a drink before we were allowed to check-in. I returned here again about 8 years ago with my friends, and it was still a great place to visit. Very fond memories of this place and really do wish to return! As it was another wet day, we popped in for lunch. The food exceeded our expectations. Tasty, well presented and generous!
