Visitors Centre large and has good facilities, shop, cafe etc.. Forest trails for walkers are ok, probably great place for cyclists. We found the official trails inadequately posted and some official paths on OS unkept and unwalkable. What was a planned 3.5 hour became 5hr as we had to alter course and go via Thornton le dale village (gorgeous) to pick up trail back to campsite. Lots of bird song and deer seen in a mostly mixed forest. Beck pretty. Will only return to northern part we didnt walk. Stunning place to walk, 5 stars for that. However the car parking charge was £over £12 for 3 hours! Tried to eat at the small cafe near the entrance to the car park but they were out of everything we wanted and the service so slow - only one person from of house who was friendly and coping admirably but clearly understaffed. Spent nearly 20 minutes queuing only to find out the had nothing left. Bit fitting as everything on offer sounded great. Ended up at the Costa in the main building, which was… Costa standard. Would more frequently if I didn’t need a second mortgage to park there. Can’t deny how lovely the walks are though. Great to see eco measures such as the recycled plastic toilet doors Brilliant well organised forest. The stick man trail is just the right distance for a five year old. Nice cafe and good playground too. Got in early to avoid the crowds, well maintained trails for all abilities, most people stay around the visitors centre so why not explore a bit further afield up to adderstone. Saying that there is a nice cafe and shop at the visitor centre and Dalby hub can be found just across the road.for hire etc. The parking fees have changed since I was last here, you can now pay for a shorter stay as opposed to the one off fee there used to be regardless of length of stay, this is a welcome addition in my opinion. Drove here as was at a campsite not too far away and for years had said we would and never did. Unfortunately the weather was dreadful..managed a short around a lake in-between torrential cloudbursts but had a good drive round the forest to check it out for our next visit. It is absolutely beautiful with plenty of carparks dotted around and different walks outlined. Visitor centre was nice with good toilets and water for the dogs. Only downside was when i went to pay for parking..I think it was 16 pounds for 4 or more hours..I know it goes back in to the site but it was just a bit of a shock..I am over it now..should have checked first! I would definitely again to explore properly but when the weather is better so I can fully appreciate it. A fantastic day out for all ages! Dalby Woods is an absolute gem if you’re looking for fresh air, beautiful scenery, and something for everyone to enjoy. The walking routes are fantastic — whether you want a short stroll or a longer hike, the paths are well-marked and offer lovely views through the trees. There are also brilliant cycle tracks for all abilities, so you can bring your bikes along and make a day of it. If you haven’t got a bike, you can hire them from the cycle shop too. The play areas are perfect for keeping children entertained, and the Go Ape treetop climbing course adds an extra bit of adventure for older kids (and adults who are feeling brave!, NB this is paid for separately and may need booking in advance). There’s plenty of open space to relax with a picnic too and a few games and play area space for the kids. Facilities are great: clean toilets, a well-stocked shop for snacks and souvenirs, and a cosy café with good coffee and cakes. Parking is easy and reasonably priced, with car parking spaces close to the main entrance. Parking charges as per usual for forestry England, however if you haven’t a national pass it’s free parking. All in all, Dalby Woods is a wonderful spot for families, friends, or solo explorers — we’ll definitely be coming back! Amazing facilities with a variety of walks. After having a short close to the visitor centre, we had some food at the cafe there and then drove up to another area where we walked around a beautiful lake. There is so much more to explore, so will definitely return.
