Nice Great little roadside cafe/bakery place around 4 miles from Ballater, very warm welcome from the staff on a chilly October morning. Extensive breakfast menu to choose from and great coffee. Nice outdoor seating area in woodland setting close to forest walks and bike trails. Highly recommended. Worth driving the 12 miles return... Cinnamon swirl, a sin to die for! Best sourdough everything!! See them at all the markets and often go to the pop up shops - but you have to be quick, because they sell out! Absolutely loved this gem of a bakery. Our pistachio pain au chocolat was DELICIOUS. The coffees were also perfect. A lovely spot with friendly staff. We sat in the garden with our dog. The is fantastic and the cake was too! We arrived too late for lunch unfortunately as we were out walking and biking but I would love to go back to try some of the savoury food too! Lovely with delicious croissants and coffee. I came for lunch and for their baked goods (which are both excellent), but their took me completely by surprise: their flat white had such an amazing fruitiness to it, I went back inside to buy a bag of the beans they were using. I went back on another day to have a straight espresso, to *really* see how good they are, and while it might not have been the best I've ever had, let's be honest, I regularly go out of my way to try out specialty cafés and I'm being nitpicky, because they're on the level of some really fantastic cafés I've been to in London, Edinburgh, and Glasgow! I'd bet there's no better shop to be found within 30 miles, easily, and I've tried! Also, their garden is such a pleasant place to sit in for a bit, and make sure to get the optional side salad if you have toasties (made with cheese from right across the road, I believe?), it's definitely worth it. Absolutely the best food around. The staff are charming, helpful and efficient with a warmth and care unique to them. A visit to this will remain in your memories and make you promise yourself to come back. The food is glorious with a great select; fresh, tasty and made with quality ingredients.
