Okay, so... the service was brilliant, fast, and helpful... But haddock was soggy in butter finish... And Chips, well... made in old oil. Not tasty at all. Plus, they accept payment by card… and the great service of youngsters. Not terrible but not great, everything is frozen no fresh fish, which is obvious when you bite into the fish, the texture and taste is that of something you can get from a supermarket. A shop that offers so much on a menu can't hold fresh food, so I suspect it's the case for everything. If you can't be bothered to cook and need food, it's not a bad place to go but don't expect any decent quality food. I visited Shah's a few weeks back when passing and it was poor. This week we are staying in Aboyne. We planned to use the Indian Takeaway. It was unexpectedly closed. The Chinese takeaway was close so this only left Shah's. It was even worse than the first time. I'm staying just a few minutes drive around the corner. The chips were cold. The macaroni pie wasn't nice either. We also had a Mix Box. When they can't manage to cook chips correctly I should have known this was too much of a disk. Nearly everything was cold. The Donner meat was bone dry, the chicken pakora cheap nasty pakora from a frozen shop. There was zero sauce offered or provided. When I wasn't asked if I'd like sauce I assumed there would be tubs inside the box. There was nothing in the box. What on earth was that naan bread? Never in my life have I ever seen a naan bread anything like that. It was disgusting. The people running this chippy clearly can't cook and simply don't care. Simply awful. Pizza was made from a cheap store bought base with very little toppings. My friend could not eat her fish as the batter around it was yellow and too thick. I was so disappointed when I saw the food. Chips were decent. Service was actually really decent. The server was polite and friendly. Get the impression that the ingredients being used are very cheap. Unfortunately you can go too far with cutting corners and I think that is the case here. Went here in September 2023. And to this date it remains one of the worst fish suppers I've ever had. It ruined a great day out with family. Very disappointing. Not saying it's bad now but I'd be highly surprised if it had changed. Been going here long term and its always been just about ok. Ordered chicken fillet super, got it home and it was was cremated. Chips ruined and fillets acrid. Can't believe they served that to me. Best ‘ chippy ‘ we have used in years. ! far better than our local ones . Wait for food was perfectly good , the staff behind the counter were very friendly, portion sizes are phenomenal!! even got two free lollipops for the kids - nice touch definitely recommend Bought a dinner for my family and the chips were cold and green, the macaroni pie as you can see is burnt beyond eating.
