Macaroni cheese and steak pie were delicious. We walked in at about 6pm on a Sunday and there were plenty of tables. was fast and friendly. Had a very very nice Sunday meal here 07/09/2025. Arrived and it looked like it had been very busy but were quickly seated. Chose the lamb shank roast dinner and didn't wait long. Everything was cooked to perfection and the lamb fell off the bone. The roasties were just so crispy and the stuffing ball was delicious, not dry and crusty like some places. Would recommend. The 4 stars for is only because the young lad who seated us didn't seem to want to be there and it took a while for him to offer up choices of beer, he served our dinners and walked off without a word but the other staff were chatty and pleasant. Was there for a car club Christmas meal. What a accommodating pub. There were 40 of us and the food was really good served by people that couldn't do enough for us. This is the 2nd year we've used this establishment and I can't see any reason to go elsewhere. Well done guys (& gals) a good time was had by all. setting, food not bad either. Staff are very friendly. Setting is pleasant. However, when I went there were some idiots swearing too much for my liking. Not making it suitable for couples or families. Pity, I'm sure it's just a one off though. I would take my gf here on another day. Very friendly food delicious and a good time to come at lunch time. We enjoyed are date. Thought it was a bit strange they filled the peppercorn sauce and gravy etc 1/4 way and when asked for more they gave sauces that were filled to the top but made us pay extra/again? Why not just fill it up to the top in the first place. Very strange and unnecessary Food was below average for the price. I liked that you could add things on though e.g salt pepper squid with the steak. Although it wasn’t very nice An amazing transformation. What a breath of fresh air and just what the area needs. Fantastic value for money, food and an amazing team. Paul and Josi have just taken over and are doing a job showing how a pub and restaurant should be managed. Unlike previous visits, my last visit to the Crown was disappointing. I was unlucky enough to get a nasty bout of food poisoning from a chicken and pulled ham pie. That was the only thing that I'd eaten that was different to what my other half had over that day and earlier. The pie tasted a bit stodgy, and usually is much better on previous visits. Possibly it had been left out too long, or inadequately cooked. Rather than write a review at the time, I let the staff at the Crown know after I'd recovered, so that they'd be aware of the problem. The staff were sympathetic and took my email and phone number, as the manager was not there. I heard nothing. A few weeks later, I dropped by the Crown again. The staff remembered the matter and confirmed they had my details, but the manager was on holiday. Again, I never heard back. When I checked, I can see the Crown has an excellent (the highest) hygiene rating of five. I think the manager needs to do a bit more about after sales service. That's the reason for marking as 2 out of 5, even though the on the day was fine. Food served all day, looks bit grotty outside, but good and clean inside. Staff fantastic, food. Stayed longer than we should, definitely go back again place, food, atmosphere. The restaurant was a perfect distance away from the drinks area. Loved the music choice, perfect level and really added to the ✨ambience✨ really cute little pub. Thoroughly enjoyed my food and it was all a really fair price. Ladies toilets were immaculate! The church pew was a little weird but a idea, gave me and my friend a laugh. Very nicely decorated, and the fella who waited on us was lovely. Will go again, and recommend that you do too. The pub looks amazing and selection of drinks and food - new owners Paul and Josi are fabulous hosts with a team! Highly recommend a visit to this village pub. We enjoyed a Sunday dinner with our French friends who were so impressed with the cosy feel of this typical English pub and the warm welcome we received. Besides the roast dinners, the Shepherd's pie and risotto were also excellent. Absolutely fantastic. The new owners are amazing, so attentive with a fantastic manner. The food is superb! The best mixed grill ever and the pie and mash was sensational. The price is unbelievable. So to go into a pub where you are welcomed and you leave feeling so positive. Well done to all at The Crown, Hazelmere. We will be back very soon and will be more than happy to recommend you to all our friends and family xx Took a group of colleagues here on a work trip for Sunday roast lunch. communication in advance of what to expect, menu to get our order pre-reserved, and from the staff. Atmosphere was comfortable and classic pub setting. The food was tasty and warm. Orders were all correct. Would definitely take a group here again. Better late than never this review….back in the summer I found myself locked out of my flat for the afternoon with my step daughter and no charger for my phone. We found ourselves popping in the Crown for a couple of hours until my partner returned from work. I explained my situation to the people running the pub and they were very nice. I had a nice pint, my daughter a coke and a meal each. All while my phone charged on a charger found for me in order to contact my partner and pay the bill! Great, welcoming and friendly all round. Had booked a table this Sunday lunchtime for 2-00, expecting it to be busy, arriving to see the car park only a quarter full, always a bad sign. Around 10 people in the restaurant but still had a 50 minute wait for food to arrive - when it did it was bought out one at a time ( there were 4 of us ) with 5 minute intervals meaning some of us were half way through the meal before others arrived. I don't often complain about but when people onan adjacent table were Such a pub, really cozy and clean. I loved the chill music choice that was quietly playing, just loud enough to hear the lyrics if you stop to listen. Food was a very reasonable price, and the burgers came with chips! Nothing angers me more than a restaurant that sells chips separately to the burger. so this was huuuuge win as the burgers were under £15. server, I unfortunately didn't get his name but he was so considerate and just the right amount of attentive. And the sticky toffee pudding was FANTASTIC it was such a good portion size. I was in a group of 4, and we all enjoyed our meal and drinks. 10/10 recommend this place. We went for lunch on Monday 19/05/25 and we were served by Carla. She was absolutely amazing - so friendly and helpful, in fact she couldnt do enough for us. Food was too so made the whole experience very enjoyable.
