I love it here, so much to explore! I used Komoot to plan a trail, and it worked really well - its very easy to get lost, but planning the route helped me get off the main pathways and see some stunning woodland. Little area of paradise, can do 5 mile loop inside forest, paths are not managed Absolutely beautiful on a spring afternoon. The bluebells in Lower Woods (south section) were stunning. Esta bien para dar un paseo pero no es un bosque al cual iría a menudo, podríamos decir que los árboles son demasiado jóvenes, pareces arbustos altos. No árboles. Pero es un lugar tranquilo para pasear I've been going here for a number of years but it has declined quite significantly recently. I get the impression that the "care takers" of this reserve would be perfectly happy if it were closed to the public entirely. Each time I've encountered them, they come across as quite surly and not happy that you are there. Lovely old woodland with a tendency to be a bit, well OK a lot muddy in places. I go there stupidly early in the morning and it is a wonderful place to be. Spring is full of bluebell and garlic and superb light. Just go there and escape for a few hours. One of the most serene, peaceful places I know to just escape in. Go and lose yourself and follow the coloured walk posts to find your way back Great nature reserve. Lots of greenary. Definitely recommend. 30-40 away from Bristol Amazing Ancient Woodland, with waymark trails.. Over 40 species of butterfly recognized, deer, birds and wildlife flowers. Good choice of walks, but always handy to have your wellies with you as some of the paths are muddy. An array of wildlife, and if you get really lucky you might spot a muntjac. Beautiful woodlands, tranquil and serene, great for walking with friends and children. Or walking alone for peace and quiet ....perfect!! Another bonus the car park is free. A lovely woodland that is a bit of a hidden gem. It's so huge you barely see anyone, while being surrounded by an abundance of nature Lovely woodland walk where our dogs enjoyed running in the dried leaves. Good parking. Gate to enter.
