We visited the on the 2nd floor whilst staying at the YHA hostel in the building. It was only open on certain days from 11am, so worth checking opening times on the website. It can be accessed directly from the city walls or from the ground floor via lift or stairs. It is free to visit with donations accepted. Nicely presented with about 20 pieces of artwork on display across the room which was divided into sections. Particularly liked the artwork of Anne Redpath which was on display when we visited. Probably will take 20 to 30 minutes to look round the artwork on display. A purpose built that has a variety of excellent exhibitions. Although not the largest, the layout is comfortable & easy to walk around, even during busy periods. are helpful when required. A lift is available from the ground floor up to the level. Went to view the "Lowry and the Sea" exhibition, fantastic to see this collection. So much so I attended twice! Have subscribed to the Granary mailing list and intend to attend several of their forthcoming events. Gorgeous YH and wonderful staff. Very family with a bar and cafe. There is a lift which goes to all the floors. Free cinema which has set times and a good selection of films. Also a pool table which is 50p a game. I had a very relaxing stay and looking forward to coming back. Loved it. No frills but comfy laid back place. I had an ensuite twin room. Great shower, all the basic facilities you could want. Off street parking for motorcycles as well. Nice licenced bistro as well. Recommended especially for bikers. Its YHA now with gallery... amazing place Tiny of note! 15 minutes max and you're done Beautiful inside, unfortunately we didn't have time to stay for refreshments. Hopefully we'll be back soon. After walking around Berwick's walls 15 of us called in for a cuppa and a bit of lunch...lovely surroundings and very helpful and staff...lovely building Wonderful decor inside and out with lovely food/drink and beautiful artwork displayed in the cafe with the added bonus of a little corner children's play area. Lots of history about the building displayed too and original features. Staff were great and toilets clean/tidy on every visit. Dog friendly. We came here on a day trip specifically to see the Lowry by the Sea exhibit, which was fantastic. The spotlight tour was well worth the extra fee. All the were helpful and the space was easy to access and get around to see each individual piece. Fantastic building, sympathetically restored. Nice food at a good price and really helpful, staff. Appears to attract worthwhile exhibitions with quality space. Great place very nice Great to have a lowry close to home Lovely exhibitions and great service Excellent of work by Cedric Morrison currently on show here, done really well for such a small gallery.
