The gym is massive and has amazing equipment not seen a gym like it. The leisure centre has 3 levels and has a indoor bowling Green on the top level. The is really nice and well maintained. Play for and a cafe for the adults while the are playing. The indoor sports is top quality and if you want to book an event it’s easy to do on the app. Great pool! We visited with 5 aged 5 to 13 and had a fab in the swim. The booking system online is a bit broken and doesn't work well for larger groups but I called and got through to a of who was happy to help. Good value too at £3.00/£3.90 for a child (depending on age). The building seems really modern so presumably is quite new. Very well organised, not over-crowded, timed swims. The splash zone was a lot of fun although they don't let over 16's on the slide which was a great disappointment for us adults! During the swim the main had loads of rafts and other things to with which was really good fun. Loads of life guards, clean changing rooms and free lockers. Brilliant, well done! Feedback on Concession Pricing at Berwick Centre, Maidenhead I visited the Berwick Centre recently with friends who are residents of Maidenhead. I work in the public sector and was served by Dennis at the counter. I was surprised and disappointed to be charged the full price for swimming, despite my profession and circumstances that might typically qualify for a concession. I felt the decision not to offer a concession was unfair and unkind, particularly given the spirit of inclusion and accessibility that public facilities should promote. I would appreciate more clarity around the criteria for concession pricing and whether individuals working in the public sector could be considered in future. Thank you for taking the to consider this feedback It’s got a lovely sauna but no way to get cold after the heat, there is a shower but it has two warm options and a luke warm mist shower but none cool you down. It is part of having a sauna, getting cold after, this can be dangerous not being able to cool off, it was so disappointing Had everything you needed for a young morning or afternoon out. A mini water park on site, softplay and an enclosed park outside. Cafe was fine. Not as good as Dunbar. But kept us going with coffee, juice and snacks. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. I Leisure centre gym, Berwick. I've been a of this gym for 6 months or so and it has truly been the worst gym experience I have ever had. In the past. I've been a of at least a dozen gyms throughout the UK. During my very regular gym attendance over 22 years, I have never encountered such a bunch of unfriendly, cliquey, nanny job-worths as the here. They are totally obsessed with "health and safety" issues and have completely lost sight that one reason they are there is to offer a decent customer experience. In the past 6 months, no of has ever greeted me, even though I see them most days of the week. One guy has acknowledged me with a nod occasionally. Worse still, I have recently been pulled up half a dozen times over "safety" issues. Today it was for using the fitball for chest press exercises, as supposedly the fitball may burst. I weigh 65 kg and I was lifting 52kg in total. My fitball bought at a local shop is marked on the ball as having 500kg capacity (see photo)...The gym one wasn't labelled up but a single man may weigh more than the total weight today. I have also been reprimanded in front of other punters (and it was like being back at school), for daring to move the ski pull machine 6 inches to allow me to use the sled a little more easily as it obscured the track. At my previous Nuffield gym, the ski pull and rowers were wheeled all over the place by the punters for circuit training. I have also been reprimanded for using too many jump boxes and was even told to be careful with dumbbells in a central of the gym, which bizarrely has a wooden suspended floor. Here I was doing renegade rows..... hardly a weight drop activity. This is the sort of place where you regularly arrive in a relaxed state and leave angry and frustrated. The gym facilities (if you behave) are ok, but in my opinion the issues make this a miserable place to be. The best thing about the gym is that there is no ongoing contract, so you can get out at the end of the month with no penalty. Needless to say, I'll not be stepping into that place again. Ironically it's called "Places for People". Oh yeah! Visited twice in one week, very modern and clean with friendly and well signed where to go. Daughter enjoyed the soft and stayed for the booked one hour while we had coffee and watched her enjoy the experience while making friends with local children there. On the second visit which was the fun swim, my daughter and myself enjoyed the two pools on offer. Very clean and secure with lifeguards on both pools and the digital wristband helped secure the locker and entrance/exit. Highly recommend and not at all expensive but would advise booking online for timeslots and payment ease. This is becoming a regular venue lovely and clean and courts were set up ready for us to with no delay. Great place and prices for for my toddler & I is much cheaper than duns & eyemouth. Toddler is great, perfect size although I do wish it was sectioned off to make it a little safer for the as it's right near the entrance /exit. My little one is a whippet and reaches the door before I can 🙈 Great facility. is really friendly and amazing for kids. Just make sure you don’t arrive when there’s a queue… they could really do with another desk to check-in customers - it can be verrrry slow Since the centre changed an owner everything changed to the worse. New owner doesn’t care about your happiness and time. Dirty changing rooms with slippery tiles, often no soap, no paper in the toilets. Inside the you often can see sand and odd things, like hair. 2-3 cheep hair dryers, often one only in working condition. In spa zone one of the saunas often closed because it doesn’t work, so if you buy spa-membership you can’t be sure you’ll get relax. It is often too crowded, people have to use two saunas instead of three. They reduced the of session from one hour to 45 minutes, which is uncomfortable. Now you can’t book a session using your app if it is in less than 15 minutes. Check-in kiosks don’t work properly, you often have to stay in the queue to check in. And at last their website is not convenient and shows not all information clearly for the customer. Terms and conditions no one explain if you buy your membership onsite. Good improvement so far! I would just like to add how wonderful this is. We took our granddaughter and grandson to Haggerston Castle on the 2nd of May for 3 nights. We went to Berwick and they both had an amazing time. To explain our grandson has Potocki Lupski Syndrome, it does take to get him ready in the morning and it has to be done in his time. Hence as we had booked their hour swimming, we were late. By the we got ready to enter the we had lost at least 30mins of our time. It's booked in hourly sessions. As our grandson loves this and it takes him a bit of to take stock of his surroundings, it was almost for him to leave his session, which went down like a lead balloon. Anyway I spoke to a lovely lifeguard, explained our situation and our grandsons condition and why we were late for this session, to which she said, just stay in the for the rest of your allocated time, especially for the kids, we were delighted for both grandkids. All lifeguards understood our situation and did not once question why we were still in the pool. They have a fantastic soft while you sit and have a coffee/tea/juice and something to eat, he absolutely loved this and couldn't wait to in it. You can also view the other children having fun through the window while eating. The from the moment we entered the who register you in, to the cafeteria are absolutely wonderful people and nothing was a bother to them, whatever we asked for was done with a genuine smile. Our granddaughter who helps her parents, grandparents(us) so much with her brother and never wavers or complains about helping him is an absolute star, she loves this pool, especially for her brother, if only we lived nearer, we live in Scotland, yes I know not far, but to far for us to go every weekend with her as she deserves the most special treats and out for herself, she is a fantastic little helper/young carer to her mum and dad and little brother. Don't like their new bands as the tag fall off and you spend half the searching the for it Atrocious customer service, frankly shocking and needs to be addressed. Usually very good, but recently the attitude of the at reception and food service has deteriorated markedly. Not only do they regularly shut up shop early for coffees etc, but today when asked for a disposable cup so my thirsty can get water, I was told they couldn’t have one. Bearing in mind there are hundreds of cups in plain view, it sort of beggars belief they can sit there and deny children the means to get water. It’s the attitude of the ‘Michelle’ working 26/03/2025 5:30pm that has prompted this scathing review. Hopefully just one having a bad day, but generally seen a deterioration in this section of an otherwise superb facility. Visited today with grandchildren they loved the slides and I used the sauna/ steam room was a great experience 😀 Completely disappointing for a place that is 3 year old had to wait in a line for 20 minutes then when we got in the was freezing and when I asked to go in the baby with my baby I got told no and rudely told to get in the main or I can leave but I wasn’t going to waste £20 so I had no choice but to get in the main we had moved around for a good 40 minutes but the was freezing beyond anything and I would never recommend anyone to go in this place and yet I had to leave as my baby was shivering as it was completely freezing completely disappointed I use the gym daily which is great and are great however I've been to the spa 3 times lately and each there's been extremely loud and obnoxious people with no consideration for others using the spa and have passed through and just gave them dirty looks would be better if people are advised before entering to keep volume low for the courtesy of others.
