If you are in the area and enjoy coastal walks, nature, the sea and breathtaking then definitely take the Coastal Path and up to St Abbs Head and the Lighthouse. In terms of distance it’s really not that far but there are some very steep sections and uneven surfaces so sensible footwear is a must (sling backs, open toed sandals and flip flops will not get you very far!😹) Also, be aware that you may not have a phone signal for part of the route. There are fantastic out to sea and down to the village as you get higher. The was quite a surprise as it’s set into the cliff side rather than being a traditional tower. The path will also take you past the keeper’s cottage, now privately owned as a holiday rental. We retraced our steps but there is a tarmac road leading back down the other side with routes past the lake. Well worth the for the spectacular but check out the weather forecast before setting off and dress appropriately. Should be on every tourist's must do list in Scotland. Easy enough to do and we just love how you are free to wander along the cliff edges without any restrictions. Spectacular landscape and the colours of the soils, rocks, deep water, colourful lichens and wild flowers combine to create outstanding scenery. You get down to the waters edge and also get to see the sea grass. Just a area. The St Abbs Head National Nature Reserve is an exceptional area to visit. The Reserve is managed by National Trust Scotland and offers some great hiking opportunities, l along the coastal path and around Mire Loch. There is a view point close to the St. Abbs Head lighthouse, and there are also a few parking places available, making the location as accessible as it can be. A place for a on a sunny day. A 40-minute from the car park, which costs £5. You can to the lighthouse, which is unfortunately closed (private property). In the bay, you can see grey resting on the shore. Pastures and hundreds of sheep all around. place. Amazing views. Took my disabled friend to the light house. Had a blue badge and met the female farmer on a quad bike. Just watch out for the stuck up female farmer. Rude was an understatement. Great headland with 1000's of sea birds, the sound of them collectively is amazing, as are the views! I did a 4 mile loop from the car park but there is a shorter route, however I do advise going to the Lighthouse. Take a nice from St Abb's Head National Nature Reserve to St Abb's Head and around the lighthouse. You can take a circular and over the clifs up to the lighthouse. Realy walk. Make sure you waer good foothwear! Breathtaking and bracing walks. Some paths can be challenging but accessible for most. Bit slippy if it’s just rained. Keep dogs on leads for most of it: Treacherous drops and baby Excellent and a very good chance to meet the local seals. Amazing and a good around the loop. Clear and well maintained path from parking to the shore. Great day out. There is a nice cafe with reasonably priced good food. Small Village but lots to see and twinned with New Asgard. I had a great time walking here with my dog. Barely anyone around, lovely and peaceful and the were to die for. I will say if you plan on bringing your dog you should consider keeping them on a lead. Lots of sudden cliffs that could be dangerous. Great place to for the day. Busy harbour with fishing boats and divers heading out to the wrecks. Plenty of great and coastal walks and a good coffee and cake cafe shop next to the harbour. St Abbs is such a place. The are breathtaking and something you won’t forget. It’s quiet, peaceful, and perfect for a or just to enjoy the sea and fresh air. Definitely worth a visit. We went there today for a and to see the of the coast and the North Sea. There are on the beaches which have been roped off to protect them. There was enough parking and the fee was not bad. We walked by the little stores which were closed today and continued the path along the road where we saw the New Asgard sign, shortly after the trail starts, it is muddy and slippery in places but not too bad. It's definitely tiring if you do the loop. The wind was blowing strong on the coast. The drive to see this place was worth it. Fantastic place a bit of the beaten track but well worth the trip. There’s a nice along the headland with a terrific view of St. Abbs (or if you are a Marvel fan new Asgard). Unfortunately we were only there for a short time but the carried on, I suppose you have to keep somethings for the next time.😁 This has been a totally wonderful hike. We were blessed with a warm cloudless day, dark blue sea and numerous green slopes to hike. scenery, birds to watch and even in some areas of the hike If you can’t travel up north to the isle of skye and the likes, St Abb’s head is the place to go. Not far from Edinburgh and in the village of St. Abb, the New Asgard, as featured in the Avengers Endgame these are truly amazing cliffs overlooking the north sea. Photos dont do justice to it. This wonderful wee village was a joy to visit. The coast view and walks were really wonderful. It could be a bit steep in places which was harder for me with mobility issues (I'd advise hiking sticks if you are similar!). The were beautiful. Worth noting to take care at height in the wind - there are some big drops. It's definitely somewhere we'll again. The loos were simple but well maintained. Parking was reasonable. Amazing views. Lovely especially if you manage to catch the seals. Had to wait for a parking space. A walk! It was cloudy and drizzled occasionally when we went but that made it better in my opinion. We followed the Discovery Trail - it was an easy with a one or two slight inclines. Stunning views, a lovely from car park, there is a coffee shop, toilets, Picnic benches, a shop and gallery location and a nice drive to get there too.
