Spend a day here and you'll be thinking about moving house! Beautiful market with cobbled square and dozens of busy little shops. Great to sit out and people watch or watch central entertainment. Fascinating history and very friendly locals welcoming tourists from every Where. Love it. Less than 1 minute to the Abbey, which is stunning. I would retire here. Great wee borders town. Nice shops and good cafes. Surrounding countryside has some fine walks along the rivers. This has it all..Main shops( Sainsbury's,greggs,Lidl etc). It has a lovely centre with smaller shops.. The roads are cobbled ( nostalgia) and there's a beautiful river..I hope to retire to this beautiful place Always a very welcoming town, open and friendly, with great eating places, day or evening, either in the spacious square, or down one of the narrow victorian side streets. Whether you are visiting for the annual rally, as part of the Borders Historic Road Route, or just passing through, it’s definitely worth stopping by. What a lovely clean Kelso is and great cafe's I would highly recommend a visit. Did a cracking hike from Kelso and neighbouring areas. A stop-off on the way to somewhere else, this has a totally unexpected French feel to it. The cobbled wide open square feels very European and friendly to us. A worthwhile break in our journey.
