What a fantastic pub and restaurant. Very close to our cottage so a simple walk. The food was excellent and the staff brilliant. We loved it and visited on six occasions during our week in Greenlaw. I visited the only pub in Greenlaw as I was staying with an old work colleague for the weekend and this establishment is what the Chambers Dictionary should have next to the phrase Village Pub. I was served the freshest of fish from Eyemouth, beer battered with chips and tartar sauce and it was a delight. The pub is full of people from the local community and this is what makes the pub into a lovely place to be. The atmosphere is amazing. If you have came across this review looking for a village pub in the borders, you will not be disappointed. Stopped here while visiting the area. 4 of us eating, it is advisable to call beforehand for a table especially on a Sunday. Thankfully they do a 'normal' menu alongside a roast dinner. Portions were of a good size. Presented nicely. Everyone enjoyed & plates were cleared. Prompt, friendly service. Would highly recommend. New owners and chefs. Really enjoyed ourselves and grateful that they've taken the place over as it's a great asset to the local area to have such a nice place to eat. My Fig starter was incredible. Highly recommend. As gluten-free diners, the extensive options across their menu came as an incredible surprise and we were not disappointed! May not be suitable for celiacs but for those who are gluten-intolerant, I don't think we have found anything even close to this good in the 3 weeks we've been in the UK. Great choices of delicious, homemade food on the menu. Menu varies with ‘themed nights as well. If you are up early we would recommend their breakfasts as well. Overall a great place to have food and drink. The food is outstanding. All cooked fresh, even the burger rolls and a gluten free burger roll were baked fresh. The mayonnaise was even home made! Overall it was extremely good. The atmosphere and service great.
