I have not been to a buffet for a long time however this was very nice. Plenty dishes to choose from and all were piping hot and very tasty. After a big lunch we all went for a walk around the pond outside to settle the meal. Lovely place to eat and visit. Banquet is extensive with just about everything you would expect to find in a Chinese menu and some European dishes . Relaxed atmosphere with no hurry and staff are great. They keep the tables clear and everything is spotless with a proper table and chairs clean between customers. The food is abundant and tasty but not exactly high cuisine. At the price charged it is a very good deal and the experience is very positive. A great buffet for the Borders. A few have tried their hand over the past decade or so, but this one seems like it will stay. They have a nice selection of clearly labelled food, including a small salad and dessert bar. If you don't want alcoholic drinks, they have a refillable glass for a selection of soda's. As they've just recently opened, their card machine hasn't been set up, you either had to pay with cash or by bank transfer. All-in-all, I'd recommend it, as you now don't need to travel to either Edinburgh or Carlisle for a good buffet. This is the second time we have been here recently and yet again there was a wide range of tasty hot food, sushi, salad and both Chinese and European food was available. Good, attentive service. Popped in for a mates bday but was wondering if we may have struggled having a dog in the party. The team at Shanghai was very understanding and said we could dine in a certain area, which we happily applied with. The food was great and thankfully it was quiet during lunch time. The staff are so friendly, helpful and attentive. And the food is really tasty with a huge selection. All is fresh and hot and is continuously being replenushed. For those of you who think it is a tad expensive, just remember you are having a 3 course meal at a price you would never find in a local pub ir restaurant. The building is amazing and looks over a lovely pond, full of swans. I’ve been twice recently and will continue to go back. Don't be fooled, the prices might say £16-£17 pp, depending on what day you go on, but we were charged double (£50 for 2), and for bottomless drinks too. Food is ok, not a big selection, and it's a little hard to enjoy with staff circling like vultures, constantly asking if your "plate is empty" for them to take away. Might go back, but the prices need to be updated, so people don't get scammed.
