The food was excellent, although it was very slow coming to the table, considering it was not that busy, it's lunchtime and the middle of the week. The bar were very on the ball and could see we were getting restless, but obviously, you can't rush a creative chef. Dog-friendly, although no dog bowls were offered. Visited the pub as a group of 8 friends, the were friendly, helpful and worked together well as a team. The pub is beautifully rustic, a nice old country pub with a lounge bar, bar area and restaurant. Nicely decorated with flagstone floors and a raging fire in the lounge. They have a selection of drinks and varied menu. For pub grub the food was next level, personally I had the beef shin ragu which was absolutely delicious. Overall, loved it, I just wish it was my local instead of being 3 hours away! Well done guys. We had Sunday here, we hadn't booked a reservation, just a couple of walk ins. Fitted us in.... was excellent.... Drinks in minutes.... And the within 20 mins..... The food was fabulous.... Came with free extra roasties.... Amazing value for the money.... We had a great time today with friends at The Rose and Crown. Definitely the best pint of Guinness I've had this year and the food was spot on, haven't had a better pub meal for a long time. Loads of classics on the menu and done really really well. Also very friendly, efficient service. Top work from a team who obviously know what they're doing 👏👏👏 pub with and welcoming staff. Ample drinks on offer and beautiful beer garden. We shared some of the snacks from the menu and they were all delicious! Highly recommend the croquettes and ploughman's board. Cozy snug area and the landlady will happily start a fire in the huge fireplace. We will be back whenever we are in the area, which will hopefully be soon! Your Welshie friends x Amazing sunday lunch! We were a very large group (20+) and the was amazing given the size of the party. Spectacular Yorkshire Puddings too! Highly recommended! Sunday was exceptional. Our group enjoyed the beef, pork, chicken and nut roast. A genuinely excellent meal with and a selection of drinks Went for Sunday with friends. The food was lovely, but the was poor. Nobody checked on us at all after serving the main meal. We were not offered any further food or drinks. No coffee available and we had to seek out to help us and to pay the bill. Had the been more attentive, we would have spent more money! We visited the Rose and Crown for one night last week, for the 80s Braii evening and stayed in Jane Lane Upon arrival, we were greeted by cheery, kind who couldn't have been more lovely. The room was so beautifully decorated and we had absolutely everything we needed for a great night's stay. Thank you to all involved in our Trent adventure. xx Had a delicious here on Friday. I think probably the best burger I have ever been served. Obviously home made and not bought in factory produce, not overcooked and with a thick slice of real cheddar. Thrice cooked chips were amazing too. Wife had the haddock with salad that looked as as it tasted. Highly recommended. We stayed here for a christening in beautiful Trent in August 2025. What a superb pub: The food was outstanding, the accommodation very comfortable and clean, and the went out of their way to welcome us and be helpful for us and and our three children. And those views! We could not recommend it more highly! We visited recently with family who are staying with us from Essex. We are all vegetarians and thoroughly enjoyed the nut roast, we all agreed it was the best pub nut we’ve had! The extras were too, the cauliflower cheese went down a treat! I can’t leave a review without mentioning the Yorkshire pudding - enormous. We discussed how they were achieved, with my son deciding they must be cooked in a plant pot😂 We will definitely be back again soon. The photos of dogs and dog competition were a addition to the pub too. It had a wonderful home from home vibe and we thoroughly recommend. My friend and I arrived late for Sunday in the evening. But the warm welcome and was amazing. The food was fantastic! Beautifully cooked and so much of it! I would highly recommend this to all of you to try. You won't be disappointed! 10 out of 10 for everything! Thank you so much xxx A great find - had a fab there yesterday. Really quality food cooked well, and a very welcoming front of house (dog-friendly, too). Busy for Saturday lunch, and rightly so. Recommended! Our stay at The Rose and Crown in Trent, Dorset, England was very with the highlight definitely being the wonderfully and helpful who were attentive to our every need. The rooms were well appointed though perhaps a little small especially for two people and a dog bur adequate. The welcome and provision for the dog by the way was excellent. Though Trent is a little off the beaten track, the location in its idyllic rural setting was delightful. All in all we can highly recommend breaking your journey at The Rose and Crown and enjoy what amounts to an authentic rural pub with dining room in a beautiful setting in the UK. And the food was too! The food here is very nice, and is consistently so. However the last four times I have visited, each time I have vowed to never return owing entirely to the standard of service. Speed of and accuracy of orders from the front of house is poor. One occasion which particularly shocked me had me and my fellow guests proving bank statements to satisfy the front of house that we had actually paid for the meal, as they had destroyed all merchant copies of receipts owing to the lack of experience behind the bar. We came to the Rose and Crown on the off chance of some on a Friday. The team were exceptionally welcoming from the second we walked in. A lot of pubs unfortunately give of a bit of a clicky atmosphere but Malachai and the team were so and very warming. They chatted to us about everything they offered and it was a real home from home environment. Highly recommend and we will absolutely be back! Food was amazing as well! a sunday for five people , nice surroundings , , but small portions , disguised by the large yorkshire pudding ! two small plates of veg to share around ! pretty limited for 20 quid , but it was also nicely cooked . The food was very but the was not. I went with my family on Sunday after Christmas and we waited nearly an hour for our meal. Then I went for with my sister and we waited 45 minutes for our food. Both times the food was good, although not enough vegetables for the Sunday lunch. It was such a shame. Absolutely amazing today. Food was incredible, so tasty. The were attentive and friendly. Such a wonderful village pub, beautiful location and great welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to return. A huge thanks to such a hard working and dedicated team 🙂 We booked the Rose & Crown for a dinner over the weekend, and as a bit of a connoisseur, I have to say that this was the best I've eaten out for a very very long time! Yes it is on the pricey side, but all roasts seem to be a similar cost nowadays... it is only here at the Rose & Crown that I feel that this money was very well spent - great portion sizes, exceptional food, timely, - very very happy to have found my new favourite location for a dinner!! We recently held my brother’s wake at The Rose and Crown in Trent, and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience. The setting is absolutely stunning – a truly picturesque corner of the Devon countryside that added a real sense of peace and beauty to the day. Amelia and Malachai were incredibly accommodating and warm throughout, making us feel truly cared for. Their kindness, attention to detail, and calm presence made a difficult day feel so much lighter. The food was outstanding – thoughtful, flavourful, and beautifully presented. You can tell there’s real heart and talent in the kitchen. We wish Amelia and Malachai all the luck in their new venture and their growing family. The Rose and Crown is not just a pub – it’s a special place run by special people. Definitely worth a stop if you’re looking for a memorable culinary experience in a breathtaking location. Nick, Sue, Debbie Fantastic Sunday lunch. girls that served us and a fabulous huge lunch. I had the nut toast and partner had the pork. Both very indeed and crispy potatoes yummy ! Our son and his new wife booked exclusive use of this charming country pub for their wedding reception and evening entertainment. We were absolutely delighted with everything that Amelia, Mal and their dedicated team delivered. The welcome drinks, nibbles and photos took place in the garden with countryside views. They had benefitted from a taster session prior and their choice of menu was all locally sourced fare, beautifully cooked and presented. Mal cooked the carrot cake they requested and later in the evening an impressive cheese tower was served. The attention to detail was much appreciated...wild flowers abounded. All was presented with calm professionalism and humour. The ambience was perfect. What a talented couple. All enhanced a magical day.
