Stayed at The Horton Inn for 2 nights, had the most wet weather but still went out nearby for lunch.Had 1 with the triplebed, tv, plus bathroom. Loved the kettle and coffee machine with all the bits. Breakfast included, very helpfull, bar area around side with log fire just great. We had a wedding near by and this place was perfect. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was great and nothing was too much trouble. The went out of of their way and really helped us when some mindless moron wrote off our vehicle. The kindness will never be forgotten, thank you Fran to you and all your staff. You are a credit to this pub, we will be back:) Great value winter cation deal at the Horton Inn during December and January. Rooms well presented and warm. Quality bedding. Food is good quality pub grub that uses local ingredients. Home made ice cream was a standout. Located on a busy intersection, so road noise possibility and issue, although they supply complementary ear plugs if needed! Not needed in January as our double glazed windows were firmly closed 😀 A great two day with my brother. Would go back. Welcome not welcome. Arrived after doing a 20 mile round trip. Checked food booking as per sign at 5:30. Bought a drink each. People after us had been given preference to order and I was told in no uncertain terms that I could not even place an order until quarter of an hour later.would have waited but when I explained that I had arrived before the customers taking preference and because there was a party of 11 booked we would have to wait to order. No sorry for slight delay, just attitude from person I think was landlady. This was a favourite venue where we had felt welcome. Never again. No longer favourite. Went more local to home where a better welcome was offered. Had treat with better menu and 25,% off to boot. 11 Aug 2025. Wow just seen reply. I was calm, polite with no aggression at all. Except perhaps in normal voice saying "fine" after getting attitude from shift lead. This is a complete fiction. I quietly stated we had been there first and the attitude came from the shift leader. There were 2 reviews, one from my partner and one from me. Just reaffirms my decision not to return or recommend. There was no apology at all. Slanderous depiction of what happened. Sorry but no, just not right. Poor show. Good luck with your business it is in a setting but myself and my friends group will avoid. We stayed at the Horton Inn on the first weekend of December with our little dog. The location was easy to find and perfect for us visiting a relative nearby, with plenty of parking. The are delightful and we were delighted with the room. It was en-suite and clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was amazing too! We will there again. Our was a twin, it was fairly basic but clean and comfortable. Coffee tea etc supplied. Bathroom was fine. We ate in the restaurant and a few key things were unavailable which was a shame especially as they were not at all busy. The food we did have was ok. Nothing amazing and I don’t think the burger was homemade which was a shame. The breakfast was plentiful and absolutely delicious with perfectly cooked poached eggs etc. All in all a perfectly reasonable, clean, comfortable place to and pretty good value including the breakfast. Sunday lunch for 11 of us to celebrate a birthday. Roasts were excellent, plenty of everything and all served very professionally. All of the were brilliant too. Highly recommended. Good value for money and such staff. We stayed in the family room, double bed was a bit soft and pillows were lumpy so didn’t get much sleep. They could do with updating. The facilities were great, assortment of teas/coffee and toiletries in the bathroom. I think the tap is back to front on the basin, hot comes out cold and vice versa so owners might want to look at that. Dinner was lovely, my family said the fish and chips were fantastic. We were all surprised by the breakfast in the morning, really tasty produce and all included in the price of the room. Yes some bits of the inn look a bit tired but the warm welcome is more important and loads of space to park. Would I go back, yes I would, thank you Horton Inn ☺️ Honestly one of the nicest places for food, nothing was too much for the and they made our whole Father’s Day experience lovely. The food was incredible and a good portion size too! Even the little garden area was pretty and good for the kids, I would say maybe a few more play bits for the kids but other than that it was amazing. I had the pleasure of visiting this country pub recently, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the made us feel genuinely welcome. Friendly, attentive, and full of local charm – nothing was too much trouble. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and it really shows in the atmosphere they’ve created. The food was also absolutely outstanding. Whether you’re just passing through or looking for a go-to spot in the countryside, this pub is a must-visit. Great people, incredible food, and that cosy, relaxed vibe that only a proper country pub can deliver. Can’t wait to come back!
