Just popped in late afternoon to check out the place as we are on holiday and staying locally. Chap behind the bar very helpful. We only had a quick drink. Seems very nice. We will be going back for a meal one evening Really enjoyed my meal here, mid week during half term and it was empty. The man who served us was lovely, really and nice. The food came out promptly, and was delicious! I had the mushroom, truffle and spinach pasta - chock full of mushrooms, SO and well cooked. I really really enjoyed it. My child had the tomato pasta, it looked lovely and a really great portion size. Unfortunately my child thinks he's a mini Gordon Ramsey and insisted it was too creamy... who knows if it had cream in or not but he wasn't impressed. Haha. My eyes were bigger then my belly and I also ordered a garlic bread with cheese and my god it was delicious! Great big chunks of garlic, on a really nice sourdough bread. Really enjoyable meal in a beautiful little pub. I've eaten here a few times over the years and never had a bad meal. Highly recommend Cycling up from Lands End and came across this gem just in time. My e-bike battery was dead. A pint and a battery charge were needed in equal measure! They provided both with smiles and banter. I didn’t eat, but there wasn’t a spare table for diners and the food I did see looked mouth watering. The menu had good vegan options. An oasis for any weary cyclist or anyone that wants a proper country pub! We were lucky enough to be staying close to The Pheasant and as our local decided to check it out. What we found was as absolute treat, he most food in a super pub. So good we went twice. The food was really very special. Their use of local seasonal was exceptional and we delighted especially in their small plates. Lots of these were mainly exquisite treatment of vegetables. A highlight being the salted cucumber dish. We also enjoyed the most heritage tomatoes with anchovies, garlic and olive oil. I'm sure much more was on this plate but it was eaten so fast we didn't really note. We enjoyed the beautifully cooked sardines which made me feel like I was in Spain. The main courses didn't disappoint, big shout to the shared sole dish with capers. You must also have the potatoes in brown butter. Naughty but very nice. We booked in advance but there were a few tables available so you might be able to walk in sometimes. I have no idea why. This place should be sell out every night. Quality and honest food with solid ethics cooked with love and care. We loved it. Can you tell? Sorry not many pictures..all was eaten too quick! Probably one of the most amazing places I've eaten in ages, We had the: smoked cods roe Breaded ray wing Sourdough and whipped butter Rolled lamb belly Chicken and leek pie And quite literally the most amazing meal me and my partner have had in ages, it was incredibly flavourful and delicious! The staff were absolutely amazing! The gentleman who served us Darren was incredible and the Chef Josh who took the time out of his day to come out and wish me happy birthday was super aswell! Probably couldn't wish to have gone to any better place on my birthday. Thankyou everyone at The Pheasant inn for such an Incredible time ❤️ We will definitely be back! Just enjoyed a long lunch at The Pheasant. Cornish spider crab for two exquisitely cooked with fat chips, local salad and sour dough plus a delightful crisp rose. The team at The Pheasant have created something special. Would thoroughly recommend! Such a lovely place. A little bit out of town for us but we came back soon after our first visit to eat and it didn't disappoint. Amazing food, spot on! Staff are super and helpful. Atmosphere is perfect. One of our favourite pubs in the Newquay area Another amazing evening of absolutely gorgeous food and personal hello from Chef Josh, fantastic service by Darren, and smiles and greetings from locals. Absolutely my favourite dining experience. Would highly recommend the whole experience.
