A busy little spot in Westmorland and I can understand why. Brilliant service with a good menu, backed up by excellent cooking. We really enjoyed our stop here today and we will return. Sat outside due to having dogs. Food was and . Needed cover as it was raining. Found this while passing and looked however we soon left as there seemed too many rules and regulations for some silly reason. Can’t have this on that menu, we don’t do that if you eat outside, has to be in a box to eat 3 feet away outside, no plates and cups allowed here and there etc etc etc. So we left and found a little tea room & chocolate shop a little further down the road. May I suggest you accommodate the customers rather than dictate to them. As It was a lovely sunny day but no one else was outside, I rest my case. Best coffee, service and especially loved the atmosphere Spacious, bright, modern, sofa in corner, chilled atmosphere. Not expensive. On the downside... very cheap tea bags, those pointless side salads you know them, a bit of iceberg and quarter of unripe tomato, no dressing. Beef on bun and egg mayo on bun were ok 3/5. Didn't try the cakes and coffee, looked like they could go either way. No dogs. Not a huge selection of food, but the burger with cheese and bacon (from the specials menu) was great. The problem we had is that it was incredibly noisy. It's not one thing in particular, but it's basically a rectangular box with no furnishing, so with a lot of people, a grinder and cutlery being sorted out, everything was really amplified and we couldn't easily hear ourselves sat in the middle. What a find! Absolutely fab food with choices. And a lush hot chocolate on a freezing cold day. Lovely, friendly, welcoming staff. Recommended in MCN News, and they weren't wrong. café. Warm greeting, very clean establishment, really and cake , highly recommended and relaxed after a long drive. We are early morning just after the cafe opened. We were the only customers at that time. We were welcomed very warmly. The choice of options is extensive and reasonably priced. The selection is also wide and decaf options are there for all styles of coffee. The food was served promptly. It was a full plate with everything for a full English breakfast. The food was free of oil, hot and cooked through. It tasted and it was value for money. There was a wide selection of cakes, snacks and healthy options too. All in all an enjoyable way to start the day in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of seating for busier times. It is for sale so I hope the new owners maintain such a high standard- it would be a real shame if it had to close permanently as it would be a real loss to the village and travellers alike. Over all in my opinion we thought it was just about ok. Bit pricey for a full (you don’t get much) which really should have included a cup of tea for the price and wasn’t keen on the sausages and bacon. Service was also just about acceptable. Lady who took the order was a bit short with us and didn’t have much patience. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t go again. A bright and cheery place. Lovely and helpful staff. The most delicious quiche - thick filling, light, fluffy and full of flavour. portion size. Gluten free lemon cake was amazing. Toilets were immaculate. We’ve been coming on and off for years. Thank you for a experience. Excellent cakes here Lovely, bright cafe with very welcoming and staff. The was good value with good quality ingredients used. Will most definitely return on our next trip to Orton. Stopped for lunch had dog with us so we sat outside which was fine but you can only order off the take a way menu. No dogs indoors. Enjoyed two fresh beef baps and shared some delicious chips . Had a cup of tea so very happy. Car park is small so parked up the road. It seems busy for time of year. Fantastic café! Orton Café is a lovely spot with delicious food, excellent coffee, and friendly, helpful staff. They even helped my wife bring our food out while she was carrying our little one whilst I was waiting outside with the dogs (note: only guide dogs are allowed inside). My wife said the atmosphere was warm and welcoming — perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. Highly recommend! Had a lovely freshly cooked lunch: fishfinger sandwich and hot roast beef baguette, followed by chocolate cake and a tray bake. Very service. Definitely come here again. Tried to have lunch here with our dog as it shows as dog on Google maps. The were pleasant and helpful and the cakes looked lovely - BUT you cannot eat inside with a dog! Not dog friendly. But can sit outside with you dog. However very unwelcoming. Wanted to charge full pot of tea price for a small takeaway cup! We ended up at the chocolate factory cafe across the road. Although not dog inside (which is appropriate as a factory), we were welcomed to sit outside and they had appropriate takeaway pricing. Their homemade shortbread was delicious. Absolutely brilliant find. We camped nearby and decided to have here on our first day before stocking up on food to camp with, but had such a that we went back 4 out of 5 days. All day was fabulous, but we also sampled bacon and sausage buns and scrambled egg on toast. food. Service was brilliant and by day 3 we were greeted like regulars. Lovely place. Sadly, over priced cheap ingredients and small portions. Premium prices for bog standard meal! It’s a shame as it is a lovely spot and the owner should maybe think more of the customers and put quality and satisfaction before prophet. I am sure that the owner would make a good living still and possibly have much better reviews than they are getting at the moment! Seems possible that they just don’t care… Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
