Definitely a boots on walk-but very worth it Highly recommend this hill, whether you are a regular hiker or new to the hills of Scotland. This one has great of Stirling and the surrounding areas. We saw plenty of families climbing so I'll take my kids soon. There were also a lot of runners so it's fun for everyone. Just over 3 miles to the summit - amazing over the Firth valley unfortunately not today. But still a great walk, not too difficult allow 11\2 to 2 hours. We took the tougher route from the main road. The are of course spectacular along the way and extra special from the top. There are a few little car parks at the bottom and a nicely placed picnic table at the top. It is a good spot for kids as it’s not too difficult a walk. There are some bumpy parts as well as pathed parts. Absolutely cracking little to summit. From Dumyat carpark is it just around 5km (3miles) and is a very leisurely route for all abilities. The summit is just high enough to crown over the surrounding area and can even get the cloud inversion. Hence don’t count on poor visibility at the top when you head off in the fog. The route is well visible though I never noticed any signs to guide the right way. Lovely with great across the Forth Valley. Start from Sherrifmuir where there are a couple of car parks. The path is well maintained with compacted base and erosion protection. You couldn't take a wheelchair up it but most people should manage it. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to get to the top. Return is by the same path (although there are numerous other routes for the slightly more adventurous). Didn't know it but I had covid when I walked up this so found it a little difficult. My daughter, who was feeling fine had no difficulty at all. The are magnificent both on the way up and from the top. I intend to go again once I am feeling better. The Dumyat climb is a fantastic with huge rewards for a relatively short effort. From the summit, the are outstanding. You'll see Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle, the hills to the north, and the winding River Forth all laid out in front of you. It’s one of the best vantage points in the area and a perfect way to appreciate Scotland’s landscape and history in a single sweep. Lovely day for it. Very hilly but doable! Take a walking aid if your a Bambi on ground like me 😂🚶 A good hike. If you travel by bus then you have to almost 2 mile to get to starting point of the hike. We took a bus from stirling station to loggie cemetery. If you have car then you can drive all the way up and from there is normal not that difficult. We saw this from Stirling and, on the spur of the moment, decided to drive to it and go for a walk. It was easy to access from the car park in Menstrie, and was a thoroughly enjoyable and mildly strenuous with amazing views!
